    there is only one answer.

Joy division and factory records were without doubt the most amazing movement of anything that ever spawned any music event of any century ever,

Beethoven ought to be spinning in his grave because he has been comprehensively out musicioned.

Joy division painted the picture that everyone was afraid to see.

unbelievable. amazing. anarchism, and without doubt the greatest musical movement of all time

IMO Beethoven is superior to Joy Division though that is not to say JD aren't good. Also this is all very subjective and it's actually like comparing apples and oranges. Listen to the 9th or the 3rd symphonies a few times and they will live in your head for months.

Also I would say The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys, The Smiths are all at least as good if not superior to JD. I could continue with more examples but they will suffice.

Control is an excellent movie btw

    No

Now you can move on :)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

There's no such thing as a pinnacle of music. As great as Joy Division are, they are not the first nor have they been the last great musicians of our or any other age.

Joy Division are very much a specialist taste. While they may have pushed a few boundries they are in no way comparible to The Beatles, Pink Floyd or the Beach Boys.

The music of these artists, reached a lot of people, were as Joy Division were very much an at-the-time-underground-kind-of-thing.

Before anyone gets on saying i must be a sixties rock lover, this is not true. My favourite music is dance. In my honest opinion Depeche Mode were far superior to Joy Division

As much as I love Joy Division they are not the pinnacle. Also it well worth noting that Martin Hannett had a more than major influence in creating their sound, if you compare the earlier scratchy Warsaw era recordings to Closer there is a world of difference.

I think a lot is made of the tragedy of Ian Curtis too, which will always give Joy Division that special place in Rock history. But there are many bands from that era that are in my opinion as good if not better but don't have that aura, e.g. Magazine, Gang of Four, Wire, A Certain Ratio, The Fall, And the Durutti Column to name a few

Watched it too, good documentary. Also went to see Control in the cinema when it came out, excellent film.

I like Joy Division but would definitely not rate them in the best ever categories. Closer is a good album, not mad on the rest though really.

I would be keen though to check out the early New Order releases -

    No you're wrong.
And you should get out of the house more often.
No point hanging around the house all day
