Unemployed,Can I get a Credit Card?

    Hi everyone, I just joined boards a couple of days ago, excellent forums:)

    Anyway down to my question, Im on illness benefit for about a year now and was wondering is there anyway I can get a proper credit card, I have a 3v by the way. Thanks

    Never heard of an un-employed person getting a CC.

    Fill up an application and see. Use you benifit as income, you'll never know unless you try.

    Thanks alot. Does the income have to be a certain amount? I heard over 16k but not sure?

    Nope, just any kind of income will help. There is no min limit. But it will be credit scored.

    It depends on how you answer other questions. Like home owner, married, if you have any other loans or bills, what your credit score already is, etc. It'll be a major negative but apply and see.

    I have a laser card but it isn't accepted outside Ireland generally:(

    Yep it is, I use mine all the time in Germany. Believe it or not its accepted more here than the Visa card.

    The Irish AIB laser card? If it is, nice1.
    Its just I tried it there before on a site in england and they wouldnt take it:o

    Sorry, I meant in a shop. The Laser card is a Maestro which is accepted in loads of countries.

    Oh and I used it in Madrid and Lund (Sweden) without any problems.
