Hi, anyone have an idea of what people are charging per metre/yard to lay a solid wood floor? And any extras that they add on? Thanks a lot

When I moved into my last house I got quotes from reliable Builders / Carpenters and a few mates in the building trade! All seem to be around €15 - €20 per sq yd. Watched them being put down and saw how easy it was, so in my current house I did my own and saved around €1100. Its simple to do if you just take your time.

Cheers Mildews, I've been quoted €30/yrd2 which I thought was a bit over the top. I've done a good few laminate floors but was concerned about cutting doorframes etc? How did you find that end of it?

    I was priced E400 - E450 for a 25 sq metre solid floor.

Like I said, just take your time. Measure twice and cut once. Same with the doors themselves.
Just make sure your floor is level before you start, use levelling compound. Unlike laminate, you have to make sure that you leave expansion gaps.
If you want the number of the lad who did my first house, send me a PM and Ill pass on his number.
By the way check out your local builder provider for the wood before you go to the more expensive specialist flooring shops
