Joining Cadets

    Have a few questions about the cadets was thinking of applying this month.
    I am currently undertaking an MA after completing Arts last year.If i join the cadets how long does training take? After training how many years service do i have to put in? How much do you get paid during and after training? How long is training?

    any answers would be greatly appreciated

    I think training is around 15 months.

    As a college graduate, starting pay would be 24k a year while training.
    If your a college graduate, once you finish training you start at rank lieutenant at around 36k or so a year.

    No no you are basically right. but you start off at 2/lt.

    Pay for them is €31,716 first year (basic(ie without duty pay))

    Cadets get around €26,000 AFAIK.

    Training is 15 months (ish)

    Garunteed promotion to Captain after 5 years as far as I have been informed but I could be wrong there.

    No, I think you'll find that graduates are commissioned as full LTs.


    Comewatmay, read the cadet brouchure, it should answer all of those questions.

    just read the brochure there, it doesnt give much info about exact pay or years of service.anybody with experiance know the answers

    read all of the brochure there is an appendix at the back with payscales in it
