Nobody let their dog, shark or mouse run up to anyone nonameranger. Take it easy! Go out for a stroll with your dog. (don't bring your gun)

I was trying to make a point but everybody got all precious about their pets again and decided to ignore the real point i was trying to make. Why do you mention my gun? I'll bring it if i want!

everybody got all precious about their pets

    They didn't, you are overreacting.

No, the over reacting was people concentrating on the statistics of Dog and shark fatalities instead of aknowledging the the point that was being made. Then giving digs such as referring to hunting and my guns in an attempt to get me back for comparing their dog to a shark:rolleyes:. Is it to let people know that "by the way he kills animals too:eek:" I'm finished with this thread.

They were only having a laugh. After all, it was silly. ;)

Yes i was being lighthearted about it all along, as i normally am and took no offence from Padi89 who also acknowledged the point i was making. But there were snipers in the wings trying to ridicule and discredit what i was saying by associating me with hunting and guns on an animals and pets forum. I see that as an attack. Just not on in my opinion. Hunting and guns have no place in this forum, animals and pets only according to the mods.:D

    It wasn't.

Explain why you said don't bring your gun, i don't see any smilies with it! What was the purpose of mentioning that i have a gun?

People were making subtle hints toward nonameranger about guns and hunting, when it had no place in this thread, I can understand nonameranger getting frustrated.

Lightnening, Telling him not to bring is gun out is pointless, you would think that he prowls around waiting for anything that moves and then bang!!perhaps you were trying to paint him in a certain light??

I'm terribly sorry about the gun comment, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. It was meant as a joke, you seemed very agitated, I thought a nice walk would help you calm down. A very agitated man shouldn't go for a walk with a gun... See, just a joke... No harm meant.

here are some nice smilies. :D:D:D:D

Getting back to the OP's original comments, I used to run in the Phoenix Park and once I saw a dog that was out of control and chasing the deer. It was very scary. The owner couldn't catch the dog and the deer were freaking out. There could have been a terrible accident if they ran out on the road. So I can see the warden's point.

On the other side of the argument, when I first started running there, I was doing some stretches near the Wellington monument. A warden was working nearby and he took a magazine out of his pocket and started to read it, tilting it towards me. He wanted me to see. It was a porno mag!!! Ugh. Every time I went to the park, pervy warden would cross the road to where I was and start working near to where I was stretching. This was about 10 years ago.

    So they employ all sorts!

Do your dogs ever meet other dogs?? How would they react if the did? I would seriously advise some socialisation with other dogs and people if its not to late.

There is a lot of rot talked about the need for a dog to "socialise". Many of us live in rural areas where our dogs would seldom, if ever, encounter other dogs (as we keep them under control). These dogs are happy healthy and well balanced. They get free running in the fileds but never if there are any other animals around. They are part of the family and to them that is their "socialising". I personally feel all dogs should be leased when there are other dogs, animals, and indeed people around. Not everybody is comfortable with dogs and no amount of " my dogs are obediant" will comfort children afraid of dogs.

Thanks SRAMEEN, nice to have some support. People that have never feared dogs can not see where someone would be scared of the dog but no one knows your dog but you so you have to see where other people are coming from.

Yeah, good point. However, I walk my dog every morning in a city park. Things are different I guess. There are loads of other dog walkers and all the dogs have a ball sniffing each others arses, wrestling, playing and pegging around. I prefer my dog to be used to this type of interaction as its going to happen every day.

Also when I go on holidays I use kennels. The dogs are bought out on walks together and I prefer my dog to know how to interact with other dogs.

My brothers have dogs and when they stay in Dublin they bring their dogs. Its handy for my dogs to be used to other dogs company.

Whenever I see someone approaching without a dog (or with a dog on a lead) I immediately put my dog on a lead.

So you see, my dogs do need to be socialised. I certainly don't think all dogs should be leashed when other people and other dogs are around that are perfectly ok with dogs of lead.

NNR, is there something wrong with your PC that you can't see the smilies I doted my posts with? To highlight that my posts were meant HUMOROUS??
Are you that woman from Galway that was filmed in a short series rescuing animals?

Indeed, I am not THAT woman.

OT but since you brought it up I might as well get if off my chest: just because I run a rescue does not mean I am anti hunting and I have stated in previous threads that I have NO problem with hunting as long as its done properly and the animals do not suffer prolonged deaths. I too am sick and tired of being labeled ;)
