Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Car Parking Spaces

Say for example somebody lived in an apt and one of their neighbours kept parking in their car parking space even after telling them in person numerous times and leaving notes on the car but the neighbour pretends that they don't understand english and continues to park in that persons space. How would somebody go about resolving that problem?

Also, say for arguements sake the mgt company is aware of the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you try putting a traffic cone across the parking space with a sign on it for example?

If you own the spot, it is private property.

There is a private parking sign up with the car reg number.

Here is another fictional example: The space that is assigned to the neighbour is taken because the have an abondoned car parked there and are using it for storage. Now they just park in which ever space is free. Also, the neighbour doesn't have access to the car park, instead they sit outside and wait until someone leaves and then drives out behind them.

It's very annoying. Mgt co isnt interested.

Call a scrap dealer/vehicle removal company and charge it to their name and address...

Other than that, call the police to say there is a strange car waiting to get in and out of the parking garage. You are afraid of their movements/goings on. You may be making this up, but the police dont know this. You are just a concerned citizen ;)

Then the Gardai stop the car, find the driver is living in the apartment block & leave it go on it's way. They'll do nothing about the car being parked in the OP's parking space as it's a civil matter.

Its a management company issue. The cops can't do anything about it nor can the local authority. If they aren't interested, its time to fire them at the next AGM.

In my development, clamping has been introduced and it works.

I'm surprised that this person is being so willfully obnoxious. Such people tend to find the air let out of their tyres and what not.

Could a resident clamp a vehicle parked in their space themselves, if proper notice was given?

Well, I have my own theories as to the legality of private car clamping. Given that laws had to be passed to enable the county council to do it, I don't therefore see how private operators have the right to do it. In any event, you or I clamping a car is no different to any of these private firms doing it.

You could consult a solicitor and get him/her to write a stinky letter. That has worked for some people.

For your peace of mind. http://www.workproductsdirect.com/shop/shop.php?c1=Parking%20Posts&c2=Fold%20Down

You should real tell the management company you are installing it as it is probably their car park and you merely have a licence to a space.

even better would be to paint it a neutral colour, and hope he parker doesnt see it when he parks ;)

Another typical management company "pass go - collect the fees - do arse all - talk long - perform short" story.

You have to get in the management company's face.

Write a short and snotty letter summarising the problem and registering your unpreparedness to tolerate their continued indifference in the face of your complaint.

Tell them that if they do not do their job you will make a professional indemnity claim against them for their negligence and or breach of contract. Yes, some of them do have PI insurance.

BTW I recommend that you DO NOT interfere with the offending vehicle as you leave yourself open to prosecution under the Criminal Damage Act 1991 !
