    Anyone there doing institute of tax exams or has taken the exams?

    Is it worth while doing afer the ACA CPA exams?

    I would only consider them if you plan on specialising in tax. In my particular environment (industry), I am not sure that they would be very advantageous.

    It IS a lot of effort to get them, after all!

    Have done ACA and tax exams. Would say tax exams are tougher. You really need to know your stuff inside out.

    If you work in tax - go for it. There really are so many jobs in tax its great.

    On the other hand, if you don't work in tax you could be years doing them before you would get them. And even if you got them they are worth f*ck all without the tax experience.

    Hi,
    In same boat as JackieO. They do give you a better knowledge of tax than the ACA which may benefit you in your job (a lot of effort). At the end of the day, I find that I would still use a specialist tax advisor but I can understand a lot better the issues involved from a tax perspective. Also, if you decide to go out into practice for yourself in a few years time, the ICAI will still want you to have a practicing cert even if you only intend to practice Tax.
