I've heard that it is bad to eat fruit after 6pm as it will lie in your intestines overnight releasing acids which in the long term may cause cancer.....is there any truth to this?

Bloody hell, I'm starting to think you can't eat anything EVER. All these rules about cutting out this, limiting that, restricting the other between 5pm - 8am.

What ever happened to a balanced diet where you eat a little of everything in moderation? Has that been limited to before 6pm too?

OP, I never heard that one before but I'm sure some 'expert' published a theory on it just to confuse us a little more.

whaaaa??? load of bleedin' rubbish

Edit: sorry Glenman, not getting at you!! But no, that's a load of tripe. If anything fruit are jam packed with antioxidants that help fight cancer. Eating right before bed can sometimes cause discomfort if you bloat or eat foods that make you gassy, but cause cancer? Jeebus no.

If you didnt eat any foods rumoured to give cancer you would die of starvation.

Ah here, that's a bit silly now!

I wouldn't eat fruit right before bed because... well it's sugar before bed. Instant energy source when you really don't need it.
