Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For all the times I've heard MC5, I've never seen them, and what a bunch of ugly mother****ers they are! Great stuff though

But there are quite a few good intros on Mate Feed Kill Repeat by Slipknot.
You failed to mention B*tchslap, fantasticly odd intro, seconded on Gently though, great intro to a great song.

My top one would probably be "Dimmu Borgir - Angels Decay", although they have a fair few good ones (Prognencies, Kings of Carnival Creation, etc).

My favourite song intro for a metal song? Definitely March of the Swordmaster! Rhapsody FTW!

Oh jesus .... erm I'm having real difficulty picking out stuff here so I'm just going to list a pile of stuff and see what comes out.

    Live
Jimi Hendrix - Prelude that works its way into Hey Joe, recorded in Berkeley (I think)
Eagles - Hotel California live (on Hell Freezes Over), starts in with an accoustic prelude on spanish classical guitar.
    AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie
Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls & Blackened.
Paige & Plant - Kashmir (on No Quarter - some 17 minutes of superb and truly glorious music follows that intro)
Dream Theater - The spirit carries on
Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark (It's 9.40pm in the evening Stockholm ... it's starting to get a little ... dark .... )
Thin Lizzy - Rosalie, Jailbreak, Dancing in the Moonlight, Emerald, the Cowboy song

    Studio
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar (I'm amazed nobody has mentioned this yet?)
Guns n'Roses - Welcome to the Jungle
    Metallica - Battery
    AC/DC - Fire Your Guns
    Black Sabbath - War Pigs
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills
Led Zeppelin - Immigrant song, American Woman, and Rock & Roll
RATM - Testify, Guerrilla Radio, Know Your Enemy
Sisters of Mercy - Temple of Love, Detonation Boulevard
White Zombie - Electric head Pt. 1

    This:

    Or This:

    Or This:

Seriously, if your heart doesn't go up a notch, you're dead. Those guys always make me wonder one simple thing:
Why do other bands have so many apparantly superfluous people on stage? Why do the 90 guys in Slipknot make less noise than those three? Why did Slash need another guy cluttering up the stage playing around him?

I have to confese Muse passed me by - a sort of more angry version of Rush ;)

    Mike.

The first one that springs to mind would be Aerosmith's Eat the Rich, Def Leppard's stagefright too- Strange how the heavier bands seem to dominate the strong intros
