Well my A&K M249 MKII arrived yesterday, and seeing as Shiva will soon be stocking them, and although a few people on here have them already there are still no reviews up I thought I'd post something up about mine.

To begin, they're awesome, you will not be dissapointed.

I'm not sure how good they are straight out of the box, I got a new high-speed motor, re-inforced piston, bearing spring guide, bearing piston head, nozzle, complete hopup chamber, and cylinder head for mine. I decided to install all the snazzy internals while I was waiting for the battery to charge.

It's a beast now, the ROF is great, haven't had it out anywhere I can check its range yet but I have a feeling it'll be pretty good.

To be honest though, the A&K internals that I removed didn't look bad at all, the hop up rubber was a little on the shabby side, but the hop up chamber itself was a one for one copy of the CA one, it comes with a high torque motor and gears as standard and a reinforced piston (so the reinforced piston I bought for it was unnesessary). I have heard conflicting reports about the quality of some of the internals on some of the reviews that I've read online, but having had a look at them they don't seem to be that inferior at all, perhaps it was just earlier models, or perhaps like other chinese clones, quality can vary wildly from AEG to AEG.

The gears could do with a bit of a grease but for the money you're paying for an A&K that's not too big of a complaint, if you're confident in tinkering around inside a gearbox it makes a fantastic platform to have a first class support weapon, and if you're not then you're still getting a fantastic AEG.

I've yet to have it out for a skirmish yet, but having played around with a CA M249, and had a go on an A&K M249 Para I have a fair idea of how it'll perform.

It's a heavy beast though, it weighs about twice as much and more than my M14 and I've heard people whinge about them being heavy, but if you were worried about the weight I don't suppose you'd be interested in getting one of these.

All in all I couldn't be happier with it, and failing any drastic mechanical failures during it's first skirmish, I'd highly recommend one for anyone considering getting themselves a cheap support weapon.

    And now, the Airsoft porn
