How good am I? I've known this since Monday...when they announced... but I didn't want to post it. Yes, they are both out.

How good are you  Everyone knew this already but nobody cares the Probowl is crap anyway and besides most sports channel knew Brady wasnt going to participate Sunday after game due to the injuries he is carrying. Moss is being a dick about imo but apparently is injured.

Well I also think the psychological and physical burden on these guys was enormous. The loss took its toll more than usual because of the huge built up expectations... and yes, the media did it to them also. I really don't think anyone should come down on the players for this.

I dont blame them either. If i was on the pats team the last thing i'd want too do is pla another football match for a while, let alone the poxy pro-bowl.

Thats probably because they couldn't spy on their opponents. ;)

lighting up a punter isn excactly difficult.

That was Sean Taylor too, I'd say there'll be some sort of remembrance thing for him at it as well. Pro Bowl sucks anyway, just a big holiday for the players selected.

To be fair I don't think it's anything to do with the Superbowl, I think Brady has pulled out of the Pro-Bowl before (2004) and last year was offered a place after Rivers pulled out and turned it down. It's just not his thing. The other Patriots bar Moss are there including most of the O-line, if it was a Superbowl thing I don't think they'd be there.

By any chance are TV3 showing the Pro Bowl????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,044 ✭✭✭BigBenRoeth

    I doubt it,they covered the superbowl,be grateful,but maybe NFL.com are showing it?

I don't know about that. This is their showcase, record-breaking year. It's all well and good pulling out when you're down the pecking order, but this is the year of Brady. I think he must be having a pretty bad tome of it right now TBH.

Nah, when the voting was going on and he was leading the joke (for want of a better word) on all the Pats forums was that it didn't matter as he wouldn't be there one way or another. Once the ankle thing happened there was no way in hell he was going to go. Don't know about Moss, I don't know his history with Pro-Bowls but I would have been very surprised if Brady had gone. And I'm sure he is having a bad time right now, but that's not why he's not in Hawaii.

Basically,in my opinion,if the Pats had won the superbowl 24-9,then these two boys would be the first two boys over there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 309 ✭✭Manny7

Seriously, the guy had a cast on his foot 2 weeks before the Superbowl, which looked like it was still bothering him on long throws, got hammered by the Giants D on play after play, has dropped out of a Pro-Bowl before through injury, and you think he's not going this time because he's sulking or something? If it was a serious game I'd say he'd try to play, but why would he risk making the injury worse in the Pro-Bowl?

Antonio Gates, LT, Lorenzo Neal are all out for the AFC too.

3 chargers players all pulling out with injury

Chris Cooley & Chris Samuel (both Redskins) will be both be wearing no.23 jerseys at the game. As far as i know they plan on auctioning the jerseys after the game and give the proceeds to Sean Taylor's girlfriend & child.

You don't see a Bengal and a Brown high-fiving in the endzone very often
    Lol :D

Because Browns/Bengals never get into the endzone anyway:D:D:D

I was up for the AFC, but why did Manning leave after 1 quarter, and Roethlisberger too? Makes no sense to me. Why be the best QB of your era , travel all the way to Hawaii and only play 15 mins?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,910 ✭✭✭thusspakeblixa

Obviously had somewhere better to be
I thought that was a very entertaining game altogether, was up for NFC too.

    Suntans needed topping up.

Why not, the Pro Bowl is a great excuse for a nice holiday in Hawaii.

Eh guys.. it's the Pro Bowl not the SuperBowl. Starters, usually at QB only play for the opening drive or two. To the players its more about the week building up to the game than the actual game itself.

That being said, its good to see Adrian Peterson pick up another award... and Tony Richardson was blocking for him like a man possessed!

Fair enough, but it's a shame the game doesn't mean more. It used to be a real grudge match, but now it seems to be a waste of time.

and for that very reason I didnt bother watching it. Highlights of it would be enough, but thats even pushing it. Flicked onto it for a minute or 2 before the end of the first quarter and it was the usual stuff, no one after the QB, barely any movement from the linemen, and not much running either, flag football type stuff. As said, its the honour of getting it and the week away rather than the football.

Well, there was some movement by the linemen, but it was mainly false starts and offsides!

It's strange that a game that's designed to show the best of the best has different rules to the normal games. Things like No Blitzing, only 4-3 Defense, so no Nickel and Dime Ds etc. really change the game. I watched most of it cos it was entertaining enough, but it wasn't any kind of real reflection on what American Football is all about...

It's strange that a game that's designed to show the best of the best has different rules to the normal games. Things like No Blitzing,.

The rules requiring 'vanilla' defences are essential. It takes weeks, sometimes months for an offensive line to gel and get their pass blocking assignments sorted out to protect the QB, whereas its much easier for the defensive line.
Without a rule that prevents blitzing, the defensive coordinator(with the cream of the league's best defensive ends and linebackers) would send an all out blitz on every play and the QBs would get killed.

After seeing what the Giants pass rushers could do against a pretty good Patriots O-Line in the Superbowl, imagine what would have happened against an O-Line cobbled together at a few days notice from players from different teams. Sure the blockers might be better individually, but the O-Line depends very much on teamwork and you don't get that in a few days.

I think if all out blitzing was allowed in the Pro Bowl, it would end up being a low scoring affair and many teams would seek to withdraw their star QB, due to a 'last minute' injury, rather than risk a serious injury to the likes of Peyton Manning, in what is an exhibition game.

So the different rules are a necessary evil

Why risk your career for a friendly though.

I see what your saying, but my attitude would be why play the friendly in the first place if you're not gonna play it.
To be honest I can live without the blitzing and all that, but with regards to the AFC QB's for instance you've got two of the 3 best QB's in the Conference and you play the third guy for half the game. I at least wanna see the best players out there, even if they're messing about.

Because Browns/Bengals never get into the endzone anyway:D:D:D

    Ehhh yeah....

8 Cleveland Browns 16 (games) 25.1 (points per game) 402 (total points)
9 Pittsburgh Steelers 16 (games) 24.6 (points per game) 393 (total points)
9 Seattle Seahawks 16 (games) 24.6 (points per game) 393 (total points)
11 Cincinnati Bengals 16 (games) 23.8 (points per game) 380 (total points)

So as you can see... the Browns scored more points than the Steelers this year (they both had 46 td's each) so the steeler's are soooo much better than the browns

First of all my man, what it says up there is gospel:D:D:p
    And ever heard of defense?
During last years regular season, the Steelers defense allowed 16.8 points per game,266.4 yards per game and 269 points in total, they were ranked number one in the NFL.
The Browns,on the other hand, allowed 23.9 points and 359.6 yards per game, they were ranked 30th in the NFL:rolleyes:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,788 ✭✭✭Vikings

Look I know you were only joking with what you said but when you consider that the Browns "got into the endzone" just as many times as your team (46) and still managed to score more points... you are really just giving yourself a slap in the face instead of ripping on the other teams like you tried to do!!

The Vikings had a better run defense than the steelers though, I can live with that. The best run defense in fact... and the best running game on offense too! We sure can run the ball.

    Too true!!!
I mean,Adrian Peterson,a Rookie, comes along and breaks the record for most rushing yards in a game?
    Impressive.
