It appears that Mitt Romney has pulled out of the race to win the Republican nomination for the presidency.

This won't go down too well with the ranting right.

Didn't the decidedly unhinged Ann Coulter say recently that if McCain won the Republican nomination she'd campaign for Hilary Clinton to stop him getting in?

Anything that causes the nutty neocons pain (like this does) is a good thing.

    Right on, man!!!

    John Stewart talks about it:

"Mitt Romney loved America so much, he could not subject it to a Romney presidency."

Kinda of interesting though not a huge surprise. His speech was full of 'in the national interest' speil.

Looks like he is positioning himself for 2012 or even a back up if McCain suffers health problems between now and the convention (possible given his history)

Romney was a tosser who would have been more of the same as what the world has had to put up with in the last eight years.

    - A continuing, unresolvable, never-ending war in Iraq and Afghanistan

    - Would have had no hesitation in starting another bloody war with Iran.

    - Wanted a constitutional amendment to enshrine marriage as between a man and a woman.

    - wanted to lower taxes further, while the US stares a 9 trillion dollar deficit in the face. (The largest ever)

    - wanted to turn more power over to drug companies and health insurance providers, to mess up further an already terrible system.

    In other words un-electable.
