    There are huge plans for essentially new towns on the northern and southern environs of Drogheda, all of the population of which will be piling onto the M1 every morning

    As things are, these may never be built or not for a long time. Hopefully one outcome of cheaper property prices (and more expensive fuel) will be that people working in Dublin will choose to live in Dublin, reducing these peak loads on the M1. Hopefully too the M1 will encourage more businesses to Drogheda and Dundalk so that people who do live there can work locally.
