So then as the thread title says what albums over the years made you realise how much you love our beloved metal and all its genres? For me the day I heard Chaos AD from Sepultura was a glorious moment. The sheer energy in the album, some classic tracks. It was like heaven but in tape form!

The day I first heard '..And Justice For All'

The endless inlay cards of lyrics and length of the songs were a tad removed from my 'Now Thats What I call Music..' days until then. :)

Last year when I got Epica's "The Divine Conspiracy" I had a Hell Yeah moment when I listened to it. It was like a slap in the face (in a good way :D) when compared to their previous stuff and unlike anything I'd heard in a long time.

    deftones - white pony

After years and years of meaning to pick it up I finially did two weeks back. I put it on at work and was blown away. I stood behind the counter with my jaw literally on the floor. There is a song on there for every mood on the album, it's an aural orgasm. The definition of perfection.

sadly they've never re-captured that magic since. they've written great songs but not full albums..

i've always contested that "white pony" is to me and my ilk what "the wall" was for my dad and his ilk

It was the only album of theirs that I did'nt own and had never listened to properly. I like most of their stuff but nothing has even come close to matching White Pony.

the self titled album was the only one after white pony i heard. It was good but yeah, white pony is a masterpiece. criminally underrated too IMO, you dont see it making many peoples 'best of' lists

Most likely The Black Album by Metallica and Live Era by Guns N Roses, since the latter was the first GNR album I ever bought, simply because I bought it the day it was released.
