It's hardly something like Fennor House?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,276 ✭✭✭Archeron

    It sure is :)

Fennor Castle according to Uncle Google, but more of a house in my opinion.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,276 ✭✭✭Archeron

I think there could be one in Kildare alright, but the one I'm thinking of is on the Trim Summerhill road.

  • Registered Users Posts: 672 ✭✭✭karkar athlete

Afaid not but it is at the other side of Trim, dont think it is known much at all but thats a hint.......:p

Is it that gatehouse out the Kilbride road from Trim? I forget the name of it, Dillons Castle or something?

  • Registered Users Posts: 672 ✭✭✭karkar athlete

Think I was right about the 'not really well known' bit, but ding, ding, ding, we have a winner..... well its not the gatehouse but rather the castle itself, well, I know it as Moymet Castle, which to my knowledge which is correct is the name of the castle, but it was built by Sir Lucas Dillion in the 16th Century, who is buried in Newtown Cemtery and is the 'Jealous Daddy'.
Find attached some pictures of different angles of the castle, thanks and well done :D

if nobody mind just thought I would stick another one up while I was here, if anyone else wants a go, just post ahead anyway :D

I'm gonna guess the gateway into Trim castle from an unusual angle.

(I think I can see the roof of Francini O Briens in the background :) )

God your really good, thats correct, was there on Sunday and thought it would be a good one, but interesting enough it wasnt that hard but well done, and know I am out of pictures from my very vast range....:P anyone else want a go cause I am all out!!!

According to the website it has been closed since 2004 with no plans to re-open in the future??

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,410 ✭✭✭chewed

Yeah, it's a pity as it was a lovely place to visit. I just thought it might be an old photo!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,856 ✭✭✭CrabRevolution

Well given there is a housing estate built on the site where the gardens were, I would say the chances of it reopening are slim to none

Well done, you're bang on! Its my back garden ;)

I wish! It is the walled garden in Killeen Castle though, nice one!

Sad to read the above about Butterstream Gardens, but that does explain why I could never find them.
