An aerial one during that big freeze before xmas. The arrow shaped field at the front of the plane might be a clue.

I'm baffled by the metal profile behind the cross, if it is Dunsany Castle I'll be shocked. Balistraria shouldn't be preserved like that, they should be open to the elements, they're no fun if they're closed off.

    So that's what it's called (balistraria)! Every day's a school day :-)

No, not Dunsany. Good guess though.

Yep, or loop hole will do. Is it on private property? I'm curious because I hope that the OPW isn't in the practice of closing them off, seems a bit mad to me. My post on the previous page is in the vicinity of Dunsany Castle. I figured it was time for a hint after 40 views and no guesses!

Yes, it is private property, though open to the public in the summer.

Hmm., in the vicinity of Dunsany Castle ? It doesn't look like Killeen ?

It's closer to Dunsany Castle than Killeen Castle is, if that's possible.

EDIT - Make sure it's not the image of the church bell you're looking at - that's Kilmessan Church. I've another photograph below that.

Methinks it's one of the crosses in the wall of Slane Castle?

I don't know the area well enough. Must take a spin around there later :) I presume from the roof it's not actually Dunsany Castle ???

That's right. It's near the Castle but not within or part of its walls.

Its the house on the crossroads at Dunsany. On the Ross x to Batterjohn x road directly opposite the Kilmessan Rd.

Hi Dad. Yes, it's there on the crossroads in Dunsany. According to historic maps it used to be Dunsany's Post Office.

    Dad ??? That's cheating :P

I drove all around the perimiter of Dunsany Castle on Sunday and couldn't find it :) I blame all the traffic distracting me. Some of the back roads were like the M50 at rush hour! Must visit the castle when it opens in June though.
