    hi,

    quick question - are these accounts tied in any way shape or form to shares or property?
    also, who has the best deal on them at the mo.
    Asking for my dad as he want to top up on his retirment plan etc.

    They can be, yes.

    You can split your funding allocations in percentages when you start it.

    To answer your question directly; no, they are not tied to shares and property. You can also invest in bonds, cash, with-profits and various other types of investment depending on the fund and on the supplier.

    You may have to go for a non-standard PRSA to get broader options. This usually attracts higher fund management charges.
