Im looking to check an Octavia.
The VIN has to be on the windscreen as well as everywhere else?
    Where everywhere else?

    Thanks

Have a look in the handbook, it'll tell you there.

But to verify that all is cool with the car the VIN on the hand book should match the VIN located on the car in the following places:

Car window? (if someone gets new a new windscreen do they re engrave)
Body work of the chassis - where?

    etc

I mean that the handbook will tell you exactly where the VIN is stamped on the car.:)

If its not on the windscreen is there something definitely wrong?

I asked a seller to send me the number in the windscreen and I got this
    43 R-00048.

He did send me the VIN but its different.

Ive heard of "twin" cars and I want to make sure I dont buy one.

(The car is in the country and Im checking everything before making the journey)

On a lot of cars it will also be stamped under the carpet in the driver footwell, usually there will be a flap in the carpet that you can pull back. Mine also has it in a little window at the bottom of the windscreen and in one of the door frames.
