Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The brave new world of radio by DAB looks in danger of hitting the buffers in th UK as the second largest operator GCap pulls in the plug.

As most reading this will know, RTE has dipped a toe in the water with transmissions in the Dublin/NE region (these stations are also online). Is the decision to axe MW part of rerouting funding to DAB?

During an ad revenue downturn is not the best time to roll out such services.

Ad revenues for radio here are still very healthy, but not in the UK. The commercial sector in the UK have had a shocker for a few years now. BBC Radio 2 kicking their arses.

Its very easy to mix this up with DAB bashers, this is more short term myopic view for those who run GCap. Its a very similar situation to where EMAP sold Today FM, FM104 and Highland Radio. That was very much a fire sale to balance the books.

The beancounters at GCap need to balance the books. These are the same type of idiots who ran ITV in the early part of this decade. And look what happened there. This is what happens when you let accountants run a media company.

There is a whole lot of whinging going on in commercial radio in the UK. GWR and Capital Radio Group were allowed to merge, yet the whining continues. Get the product right and be inventive, and not run it as a cash cow, milking it dry.

GCap have made a pigs ear of the Digital 1 mux they owned. BBC and Channel 4 (new mux providers) are very upbeat about DAB.

Someone on the radio the other day said DAB may become the betamax of radio broadcasting. :(

Very well said DMC. Couldn't agree more. Spoilt and Child come to mind with that lot.
