Hello all, a new postgrad here - a few questions if I may?

Since I was offered the place last month, everything has flown by and I start next Monday. Is it odd to start February-ish? Given that I thought most postgraduates start in September or so every year, is there a disadvantage in starting this late?

Lastly, is there general aims or targets and common obstacles or pitfalls that people have encountered - perhaps specific to a science position - that I should expect along with the daily challenges?:D

There's generally no problem at all - we've had people starting all through the year.
