Nissan Micra Alarm

How do you turn off the alarm on a 2001 Nissan Micra. Went out today and hit the button to open doors (no beeping off the alarm which was strange but dorrs opened) and got in and turned the key in the engine and the alarm kept beeping and I dont know why? A quick reply would be great as Im already late for somewhere!

Is it a factory NATS or aftermarket alarm?
