Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello,
this might be a stupid question but im looking tog et a copy of vista 64 bit, and theres cheap OEM copies of vista on dabs & komplett etc. Basically from what ive read it jsut seems that the only difference is that OEM is meant for system builders, for a clean isntall, and that you dont get as much support as you do with the more expensive versions, and it jsut comes in a cd case rather than a box & manual etc. Basically im just wondering if its cool to go ahead and buy an oem copy for installing on my new build? Would it cause problems down the line?
    thanks

The problem down the line is that you cannot legally transfer it to another computer if you build a new one or something. OEM licences live and die with the hardware (typically the motherboard).

ah i get ya, thanks. Unless my machine dies i cant see it being too big a problem as i wont be building or installing any other machines for a long time after this!
    thanks

sorry just a follow up to this. Ive recieved my OEM copy of vista, i havent installed it yet but the spiel on the box is telling me some crap about OPK's? (OEM preinstallation kits??)
Looking on the MS site it seems to be that these are for businesses or something, youve got to do alot of registering and becoming a MS partner and all this crap? What the hell?
I suppose ill find out when i install it but anyone know anything about this stuff?

You shouldn't need to bother with any of that, just stick in the disk and off you go :)

Just to help ease your mind, I've built several machines with OEM versions of Vista, with no problems at all.
