Anyone know why Galway hotels are full this weekend?

Hi,

Having a nightmare trying to get a couple of rooms for Galway this Fri/Sat - is there something on in the city? Looking for a modern 3 star type place - anyone got any ideas?

No idea where might have vacancies but Valentines day is more than likely the reason they're full.

Have you tried B & Bs instead? They can be a lot better value and in many cases more comfortable than a hotel.

I've worked in a hostel and now a hotel. Basically Valentines weekend (ie this weekend) through about mid-November, almost everywhere in Galway will be sold out every weekend. It's just a major tourist and 'come in to party for the weekend' sort of place (ie stags, hens, student groups, etc.).

If it weren't Valentines day weekend, I'd suggest somewhere high-end (the Radisson for example) as the best chance for availability, but god knows for this weekend.

That's expensive!

The Anno Santo Hotel in Salthill is a 2 star with room only for fri & sat at 180

The Forster Court in the centre has availability as do numerous B&Bs as another poster pointed out..

Did someone say Anno Santo?

Quaint hotel in suberbia, a few hundred metres from the seafront. Has a bus stop outside the door that will bring you into the city centre (about 3km) in 15 to 20 minutes. Anno Santo bar is a flashback to the 80's but they will serve you all night long, allegedly. Also, try Warwick in Salthill or Menlo Park on the other side of city but only 15 minute walk to Eyre Square.

Hotels are usually booked out most weekends of the year but are empty on weekdays during the colder months.
