I actually built on his momentum by giving him a title on the first night after Mania but I see what you mean by first loss in a feud and it's a fair point, if you see the Big Show as a main event star, which I don't on Raw. He'd be about 6th in the pecking order behind HHH, Cena, Orton, HBK and Jericho and that's with his momentum. Hardy on the other hand has made a legitimite case to have his place cemented and defeating the big show in 2 straight falls, in his specialist matches would do that. I don't think pushing Big Show to Main event status on Raw over someone like Hardy (who he'd have to skip over) is in their best interest and I think moving him to ECW/ Smackdown would be stupid because they share 3 monster heels and 3 monster-ish faces between them which would make for terrible wrestling, so I would sacrifice him for Hardy

As I'm the only person who's said I'd put him on Smackdown so far, I'm just wondering what you'd all do when Rey gets back to full health. Would you just ignore the ready made feud with Big Show, move Rey to Raw or ECW or move Big Show after just six months or so?

Consider that a counter to everyone but Cactus Col, as I've already countered him

the way I suggested both Batista and Big Show would end up on Raw was as part of a post WM 2008 Draft talent from Raw would obviously have to also go the other way, also Triple H is more of a tweener imo, hugely over but portrayed with a i dont give a fup attitude ala SCSA, he (HHH) is also quite likely to turn heel in the future.

Simply put I would have Rey vs Show as an interpromotional match-up. Rey could return during Big Shows rematch with Batista at Judgement day costing him the victory and leading to their interpromotional grudge match at One Night Stand.

You are right, ECW has been treated badly, but that does not mean it will be in future. I'm basing my arguement on the assumption that WWE will do try its best for all its brand.

Punk has already defeated burke a load of times in defence or his title. The same with Miz and Morrison. I agree that the faces on ecw haven't fared much better.

The notion that dreamer could go straight into a title feud isn't really that far fetched. He is an ECW original, a former ECW champion. But the point of using him isn't to make him a main eventer, but to keep Big Show occupied as the rest of the ECW roster consolodates, and grows stronger. Both Face and Heel.

This counts as a second reply to fozzy's answer on this question, which is outside of the rules of ATH, so you and Bounty Hunter will be accordingly marked.

It wasn't really, maybe I should have done it in two separate posts. My first paragraph was my response to Cactus Col's counter and my second paragraph was my counter to him. Cactus Col only replied to my counter of him, not to my first response

... maybe I misunderstood the rules there ... but I meant that reply as a defence to Fozzy's counter .... which I thought was allowed.

I didn't attack his original argument a second time, or his defence of my counter.

*you can only counter an arguement once, although you can counter as many different peoples arguements as much as you want (but only once each). if someone's defense of their arguement isnt good it will count against them plus someone else might continue to question it in your place.

Guys if you could keep countering people counters it would be like every other thread on this board, this rule is in place to prevent constant re posting.

P.S This round is Close !!! Im going to hold on on posting the next question til around 9 tonight because boards has been going crashing/ being slow for last few hours, Rjd2 Still to comment, so we'll give a few more hours. Also its my birthday so i need to eat cake and drink beer :)

I always assumed that Rey would be part of the feud with Mayweather, effectively at his side for the feud and maybe even "training" mayweather to wrestle but even if he's not I don't see any problem with ignoring it. It'd be 6 weeks since he did it and considering what happened immediately afterwards and how big it was, most people will have forgotten about it. Also, I don't think Rey has even finished with Vicki yet. The chokeslam was just a way to get Mayweather involved and I think you're making too much of it. Also, I'd never have Show on Smackdown because of all of the monster v monster matches you'd get in the long run and Rey is the too big of a draw there to move over

There weren't too many replies by anyone though. Cactus Col countered me, I responded. Then I countered him and he responded. They were two separate points, I think I just confused it by putting them in the same post

I wont mark anyone down for it.

    Round 3 Scores
    Bounty Hunter (17)
    Fozzy (17)
    Bubs101 (17)
    Machismo Fan
    RjD2
    Cactus Col (17)

    Leader Board After Round 3

    Fozzy (50)
    Bounty Hunter (49)
    Cactus Col (49)
    RjD2 (31) 2 rounds
    Machismo Fan (15) 1 round

All of the answers had positive and Negative aspects to them and the arguments to all were valid, no one person was able to push themselves above the pack with there question or counter. All to play for in the next round. I would give specifics but you all got the same so i will not. Good luck in Round 4.

Round 4 Q: If you had to change the gimmick of any WWE character. Whom would you do it to, what would you change the gimmick to and why ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭Machismo Fan

Even if they are not scored I'll answer all three anyway. Internet problems.

Round 2: Stephanie McMahon, her time managing HHH along with her involvement in the feud between HHH and Angle she has been superb. Her act as undeserving womens champion, even better.

Her part of the Alliance/WWE feud was vital as Shane O' Mac did a bit of in ring work.

She helps to write Smackdown and at one stage was GM of Smackdown.

She really has contributed a lot to the wrestling business even if she is responsible for how much power HHH has. Also her part in her match with Vince was superb.

Round 3: Smackdown. Logic would dictate that Big Show would go straight into a feud with Rey Mysterio. He could then perhaps feud with Kane and have a title match with Undertaker.

Smackdown need him a little more than Raw as Raw will probably raid Smackdown for talent in the near future. He will give the brand a needed boost and create a little fresh feuds.

Round 4: Kane. He was much better as an utter monster with no heart that will destroy anything in his path. He has gone stale as he is and needs a change.

So he should revert back to the Monster gimmick and start a journey back to a credible main event spot that he deserves. He should start by destroying all Smackdown! and ECW has to offer.
Tear his way through Batista, Undertaker, Mysterio and Punk and decide that he needs more blood. So he goes to Raw with his killer monster gimmick and tear through Jericho, HBK, HHH and Cena to become WWE Champ.

All this with a heel turn and a change in gimmick, you say. Yes, I say. A gimmick of destroying absolutely everyone in the WWE with minimum effort(well maybe not minimum) may be the thing to get Kane back on top. All he has to do is start throwing people off stages and generally destroying people.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,854 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Despite the large roster of Talent to choose from I would tend to agree that Kane is the person most in need of a change in direction.

If everyone remembers when Edge returned from his Injury he briefly had a feud culminating match with Kane before again returning to the main-event, this was because before Edges injury the WWE had just started a feud between the Rated R superstar and the Big Red Machine in which Kane played mind games with Edge and menacingly stalked him as can be seen in the brief re-cap below.

    http://video.aol.com/video-detail/edge-vs-kane/915714285

However it was during this Feud that Edge became injured and had had to Vacate the Championship which Khali then gained. after briefly being involved in the rijig of the planned PPV to accomodate for Edges injury and a triple threat with Khali and Batista, Kane began to slide back down the ranks of the WWE and with that this new more psychological Kane dissapeared.

I say bring this Kane back (actually I say the never should have let this Kane go after just one significant program) and firstly have him Feud with someone like MVP. this would not immediatley throw him into the Main Event but give him a fairly high profile feud with someone he has history with and someone with whom the mind game playing stalking monster gimmick could play well with. This feud could act as a chance to fine tune this new character for Kane before he prehaps returns to the Main event stage.

now im not neccesarily suggesting Kane suddenly go on to become Champion, however as people have pointed (when comparing to Raw) out Smackdown is need of main-eventers with only Batista, Undertaker, Edge and Rey (currently injured and only an occasional challenger) at that stage unless you consider Khali a main-eventer. So perhaps building someone like Kane up to feud with these people would be a good idea and one way of avoiding more feuds that we have seen far too many times recently on SD.

also having only ever held a world title for one night after KOTR 98' Kane is argueably deserving of another run even if it is as a transitional champ, and someone that the fans in general would accept in such a role if his character/gimmick were portrayed correctly.

I'm half way through my answer, just gotta get some dinner before I finish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,594 ✭✭✭Fozzy

Sorry, I was waiting for some inspiration to come to me for this round and then I ended up pretty busy. My best answer would be something from the last game, where I said that Khali should become a comedy character, but I'll go for something different to keep it interesting!

I would change Kenny Dykstra's gimmick. Currently he doesn't really have one, he's just a generic bland heel. Kind of like Orton was when he debuted on Smackdown. So it's self-explanatory why I'd give him a new gimmick

The gimmick that I would give him would be that of a chef. It's just about the only occupation that hasn't been portrayed by a WWE wrestler over the years (as far as I can remember). I know some people don't like these cartoon gimmick characters in the current day, but I wouldn't portray Kenny in the way that IRS or Duke "The Dumpster" Droese were portrayed. I'd simply have him as a somewhat goofy heel wrestler who likes to cook

First of all, the benefits to Kenny are that he'll have a recognisable character and more opportunity to be involved in the show. I'd give him a backstage segment each week where he can show us some new meal or where he could cook something for other superstars. This would mostly be played for comedy

There are also benefits to other wrestlers. Kenny could be cooking for Big Daddy V and Kane, and they might get into an argument about who can eat the most. Having them in a food-eating competition would be more entertaining than in a wrestling match

When wrestlers want to bring a diva out on a date, they could stop by Kenny's place backstage for a romantic dinner, which would invariably end with something going wrong and Kenny uttering his new catchphrase, "was it something I cooked?!"

Kenny's feuds could start when he cooks the wrong thing for a wrestler. At Thanksgiving they could have their traditional food fight with Kenny's food. Kenny could turn on his tag team partner when he finds out that he ate somewhere else. Kenny could try to make his opponents sick before matches. There's a lot of things that could be done using this new gimmick that I haven't touched on

I think that this gimmick would suit Kenny more than anyone else because he is someone who hasn't got an established gimmick. He also isn't going to be getting a major push up the card anytime soon, so something like this would suit him. Like Smackdown's version of Santino, except Kenny's probably a bit better in the ring

I didnt think that straight up robbing your previous idea would have been right but I too originally had intended on using Khali, think that was actually a quality idea teaming him in a lovable giant role and Hornswaggle together ect...

Bounty hunter- Good Answer however not answering the question asked, you give reasons to push him, its not that his charcter has changed, its just he getting more screen time/ Wins. the video link and development of answer nonetheless was excellent.

Fozzy Sounds like a good mid card comedy angle, But i dont think Kenny Dykstra , has the mic skills to pull of comedy skits of this nature or length, which could make it very poor and forced, Good idea ! id like to see, mabye not with Dykstra, but liked to see it.

P.S If BH/Fozzy/Machismo Fan agree i will allow Bubs/Cactus to post round 4 during round 5 and i wont penalize. If they agree.

Round 5 Q: You have to book a PPV, from either TNA , ROH, WWE, Now the PPV of choice is at your discretion it can be any ppv during the 12 months of the year, Marks will be awarded for feud originality, continuity, sensible booking ( Not Hornswaggle vs HHH in hell in a cell  ), back storyline - (you can state if they have had previous matches at PPVs to suite your ppv) , . However you cant have Shawn michaels in TNA or Kurt angle in WWE, you have to book according to the rosters. The PPV will require 6-8 matches .

P.P.S This question should be a long enough answer. I know its a bit long, but its the final round and its a bit different. Credit For Question to Double C .

Sure let them go ahead if they want to, the more competition the better!

I won't have the time to answer this one until tomorrow evening, but it's an interesting one alright. Do we have to give who we'd have win the matches and how we'd build to them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 516 ✭✭✭Danger_Dave

Yes the winner of the match should be given, it is up to the individual if they want to say how they won and how they are built up, Remember its a long question but the more in dept the answer the more i can understand the PPV itself.

P.S If anyone decides to pick TNA, or ROH inparticular,[looking at fozzy :) ] ive got some help from some experts on boards for help on that .

For question 5 it would be good if ye could have build up matches/incidents on episodes of Raw/Impact/random ROH shows. Nothing too in depth or anything but just solid reasons why anyone should be interested in seeing wrestler x vs wrestler y on the ppv. The inspiration for the question, quite clearly, is Guest Booker with Gabe!

Sorry for disappearing there, cheers for allowing the extended time Dave, haven't been able to get a proper chance to do an answer before.

Round 4 Q: If you had to change the gimmick of any WWE character. Whom would you do it to, what would you change the gimmick to and why ?

I would take Val Venis and change his gimmick. For the last several years Val has been a jobber to the stars, which is a shame, as he is a very solid wrestler, packed with charisma.

I would slide him to the Geurrero family, basically as a bodyguard/assistant for Vickie Guerrero. At first his in ring action will be limited, occassionally interfering in matches for the rest of the familly, whether it's Edge, Chavo, or the tag team. Over time his closeness to vickie will create friction with the rest of the stable, primarily Edge. But this will be a slow build, taking several months.

While that boils away Val can be inserted into the mid card, taking on people such as Finlay, Jamie Noble, Matt Hardy, MVP feuding for the US title.

The change to smackdown and gimmick would be a breath of fresh air, both for Val and the fans. Basically reintroducing us smackdown viewers to him.

It would open the opportunity for new feuds, especially given Val's history with Edge. (Edge was married to Val's sister, giving the val / vickie / edge triangle storyline a bit more juice).

While Val may never be a main eventer, he can certainly be a top midcarder, and a programme with Edge would give other wrestlers a chance to get their hands on the title.

(sorry again for the delay in replying)

Sorry about being so late but here goes.

Round 4 Q: If you had to change the gimmick of any WWE character. Whom would you do it to, what would you change the gimmick to and why ?

I would change the gimmick of Shawn Micheals. For the past couple of years Shawn has been a evergreen face (bar the Hogan feud) who hasn't really seized his opportunities in terms of titles, often giving a push to the next generation of wrestlers at the time.

I would change him into a bitter oppurtunitistic heel who is annoyed that when he turned his lifestyle around, his chances in the company started drying up. He would start complaining that he had only won the title 3 times, hinting at the fixed nature of the business and backstage politics demanding that he be given his reward for his service, saying that during the times of the clique he wouldn't even have to hint. He would point out that Edge, RAndy and Chavo are the Champions because they do whatever it takes to win. When he's given challenged by Vince to earn it he agrees and starts to cheat for the win, but at the same time trying to abide by his Christian lifestyle.

I would have him reform a heel D-X and win the tag titles immediately, then have him turn on Hunter in a matter of weeks. I would have him pal around with Hornswaggle so he can use his family connections to get him a title shot, and when he does get one, destroy him. At the same time I would have him attone for his crimes by having videos of him going to confession every week. These would invariably involve comic crimes being revealed

HBK has been a face for far too long and hasn't been champion for even longer. It's high time that both of those things change and I think that this change would be for the best. The Catholic aspect of his person should be played on more in the WWE but it shouldn't stop them from bringing back the best HBK, the oppurtunistic HBK.

TNA Bound For Glory Oct 12 2008: Joe is champ by now, Lethal and Styles and Tomko are still champions.

Opener: 'War Machine' Rhino vs. Robert Roode

This will be the make or break match for Roode. He will screw Rhino out of a World title match and Rhino seeks revenge. On iMPACT! they would have the usual arena wide brawls with Roode just about escaping with his life. Roode could throw in a few cheap interferences, Rhino cuts one of his brilliant promos on how much he hates Roode and Roode does the whole "It pays to be Roode" act. On the night Roode goes over to continue his momentum.

Mask vs. Mask: Curry Man vs. Shark Boy

Shark Boy becomes sick of Curry Mans act and attempts to unveil who he truly is. After numerous attempts and failures Curry Man challenges Shark Boy to a Mask vs. Mask match with Shark Boy winning and the return of the Fallen Angel.

    Matt Morgan vs. Kevin Nash

The new blood vs. the old school kind of thing that was teased a few weeks ago on iMPACT!. Morgan seems a competent promo and we all know how Nash is one of the most charismatic wrestlers around. After verbal abuse from Morgan, Nash finally snaps and goes after Morgan leading to their match. In the end Nash passes the torch and Morgan quickly becomes one of the most dominant forces in TNA.

TNA World Tag Team Titles: 'The Phenomenal' AJ Styles and Tomko vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. LAX

MCMG have a disputed finish with LAX in a No. 1 contenders match at No Surrender which leads to a triple threat match. They would all face each other going into the PPV. Styles and Tomko would beat LAX, MCMG would beat Styles and Tomko and LAX would beat MCMG. This would lead to a superb match at Bound For Glory with The Motor City Machine Guns finally winning the Tag titles.

'The Instant Classic' Christian Cage vs. Booker T

Cage continues to make derogatory comments about Sharmell and begins to run down Booker T about being old and trying to take The Instant Classics's spot. Booker says hes better than Christian and trys to prove it. Thus, this brings us to BFG and Christian wins as he should win all his matches.

TNA X-Division Title: 'Black Machismo' Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt

Sonjay finally snaps over all of Lethals success and attacks him during a tag team match. Sonjay then becomes pushy over So Cal Val and Lethal, who previously didn't want to hurt his friend, losses all control and comes after his long time friend. Dutt to win and starts his first reign as X-Division champion.

Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett for control of the company

After Jim Cornette is either fired or retires due to a nervous breakdown, Angle realizes that TNA management needs a new head and his ego makes him think he is perfect for the job. Just as he is about to claim that position Jarrett comes down and tells him he can't do that, Angle says who's going to stop me and Jarrett says I am, while nailing Karen Angle with the guitar in the process taking her out of the rest of feud. This makes sense as there is apparently a legit struggle between these two and why not battle it out on TV. They continue their attempts by trying to get the locker room to side with them and finally Jarrett challenges Angle to a match where the winner becomes the head of TNA Management. Jarrett wins the match with the help of his trusty guitar and assumes his new on air role and only wrestling when it is completely necessary.

Main Event: TNA World Heavyweight Championship: 'The Samoan Submission Machine' Samoa Joe vs. 'Cowboy' James Storm

James Storm continues his great run by beating Rhino in Elevation X and goes on to beat Kaz, Abyss and Booker T in feuds which has him red hot by the time Bound For Glory comes around. He beats Rhino and Booker T in a triple threat No. 1 contenders match at No Surrender and then concentrates on his feud Samoa Joe. They begin with a battle of words which quickly turns into an ugly brawl and these two can't get enough of each other, brawling during every match they are involved with together. The final iMPACT! would be Jarrett and Joe vs. Angle and Storm. Jarrett would be taken out and Storm and Angle would hit a Death Sentence as iMPACT! went off air. Their match would be an epic with 'Cowboy' James Storm winning the World title and the acknowledgment of his great talent.

I know you said 6-8 matches but if you would include my 9th it would be appreciated. This match would be roughly mid-card.

Six Sides of Steel: TNA Knockout Championship: Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong

Kong will take Gail Kim out again but this time for longer this time. Finally Kim comes back and challenges Kong to the match at Bound For Glory. Kong would continue her domination all year taking out everybody and just when she has beaten everyone else(with a little help from Raisha Saeed) Gail Kim would return to make her challenge. This would be the last stand of the Knockout division against Kong and the 6 Sides of Steel stipulation is to keep Saeed out. Kim would win and save the Womens division from destruction and reclaim her spot on top of Womens wrestling.

I think that is a pretty darn good card. Though it will have to do very well if I am to win.

Right, I think I'd go with Survivor Series.

    Main Event:
Edge (Champ) v Matt Hardy (for the WWE Championship)
    First Blood Match
Taking note from the MVP/Hardy long running program this would be the first ppv match in their feud which ideally would culminate in a match at mania. Their feud would go on and off as over the course of several months with Hardy winning the rumble to face edge at mania.

Smackdown Vs Raw Survivor Series Match
Smackdown: Finlay, Undertaker, Kane, Jesse & Festus

    Vs

Raw: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Paul London & Brian Kendrick.
I was a fan of the smackdown vs raw survivor series match from a few years ago. It can keep some top names busy, as well as including a few up and comers. This would start off with William Regal visiting Smackdown, but getting on vickie's bad side by constantly sneering at her matches and talent. So she sends a ryder and hawkins to cause trouble on raw. Regal responds by sending his cronies to smackdown. This escalates until both locker rooms are essentially at war with each other.

However as neither Vickie nor Regal want to put their cronies up against the other's top wrestlers, they use the named wrestlers.
On the following smackdown leading up to the survivor series Vickie's cronies get beat down by the smackdown team. On the raw after the ppv Regal's cronies get beat down by the raw team.

    Number 1 Contenders Match:
Chris Jericho v Randy Orton v Umaga v JBL

    Intercontinental Title Match:
Jeff Hardy v Carlito v Cody Rhodes in a Ladder Match
While cena holds the championship belt, Jeff Hardy starts defending the Intercontinental championship much more often. Carlito decides he has been without gold for long enough and wants the belt back. But Rhodes wins a match over carlito and, with Hardcore Holly backing him, demands a title shot.

    Geurrerro Family Vs enemies
Chavo, Val Venis, Curt & Zack, MVP
    v

CM Punk, Ron Killings, Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore, and Stevie Richards.

As the guerrero family (including Val Venus from my previous scenario) seek to keep hold of both the ecw, world heavyweight, and tag team championships they make a number of enemies. CM Punk is denied a match against chavo for the ecw title, so he challenges him to a survivor series match. Punk puts together a team of people who have suffered under the geurrero reign. Chavo also recruits MVP for the match.

    OPENER:
    Monsters Ball Match:

Big Show V Big Daddy V V Mark Henry V Great Kahli V Snitsky v Super Crazy

The Monsters from each brand get into a war with each over who is the most dominant. Super Crazy brings back Crash Holly's old gimmick and claims he is also a super heavyweight.

here is the longest answer and most likely post I will ever make on this board
    ...................
    WrestleMania 24

    WWE Championship match
    John Cena(c) v The Undertaker
Cena who regains his WWE title at WM24 remains champion for most of the following year excluding the three month Jeff Hardy title reign which resulted from him cashing in MITB after a Cena main event PPV match vs Chris Jericho. Meanwhile Taker is the undisputed champion over on SD until his shock move to Raw as part of the 2008 WWE Draft. Taker isnt happy with having to drop his title though and sets his sights immediatley on becomin the champion on Raw and the WWE title belt. However he is told he is going to have to earn his shot and is put into a No.1 contenders match at Armageddon against Umaga. On the Raw before this match taker comes down and interferes in a match between Umaga and Snitsky Tombstoning both. Which is what leads to Snitzky interfering in the No.1 contender match and temporarily costing Taker his title shot. In the following weeks Taker squashes Snitsky more than anyone (inc HHH) has ever...EVER squashed anyone and even eliminates him from the Royal Rumble along the way to winning his second rumble in three years. This means that once again the streak is on the line at Wrestlemania but this time against John "Superman" Cena the most believable person for breaking the streak and a an with his own undefeated streak at WM. So its streak vs streak/title at Wrestlemania as the deadman takes on argueably the WWE's biggest and most controversal draw.

    Winner: The Undertaker

    World heavyweight title match
    Edge v Randy Orton (c)
Because of injuries on SD edge moved there and cashed in the money in the bank this essentially ended the Rated RKO team/stable, without the expected feud. So when Randy Ortan is moved to Smackdown as part of the 2008 WWE draft there is imediate friction friction between the two due to their history and the fact that both want the now vacant WH title (Vacated by the Undertaker due to his drafting to Raw). both Edge and Orton are enterd into a fatal four way for the vacant title along with Batista and MVP. Orton becomes the champion by pinning MVP after an RKO leaving Edge incensed that he lost out on the chance to become champ without being pinned. This opens up a whole range of new title feuds to SD with Ortan facing Batista, Rey Mysterio and more all while Edge is forced to bide his time and wait for his chance, a chance which finally appears when he faces a gauntlet match the week after the rumble and earns the chance of a No.1 contender match at No Way Out against the winner of the following weeks beet he clock challenge Matt Hardy (who after losing at NWO earns his his MITB opportunity) who he then beats. So at WM we get the feud that never was the Rated RKO Wrestlemania match-up.

HHHw/ Steph vs Vince McMahon and Shane-O-Mac
....kayfabe no more... The WWE finally run with the HHH and Steph are together and that Hunter is the daddy of Stephs kids angle they have so often hinted and joked about. Its revealed that not only does Vince have a bastard son (Hornswaggle) but a son in law he considers a bastard. Vince who is known for his "tough love" try this technique again with the son in-law and through everything in his Arsenal at him. This ranges from everyone such as the The Great Khali to the makeshift tag-team of The Big Show and Kane. When nobody can get the job done Mr McMahon decides to do as he has done many times before and take matters into his own hands by facing HHH 1 on 1 at Wrestlemania. However Shane insists that his father cant go it alone with this one and puts himself into the match.Numerous interuptions including Hornswaggle antics however cant stop the game

    Legends match
    The Rock v HBK
The night after No Way Out where HBK defeated JBL 1on1, Micheals comes down to ringside and cuts a promo about how he has defeated everyone at big PPV's and seing as the title situation is already sorted for Wrestlemania he suggests that maybe this will be the first time in years the heartbreak kid will not be at wrestlemania because there simply isnt anyone decent left out there that he hasnt beaten at such a big. He then even jokingly asks if there is anyone in the back that thinks they are worthy of the honour that would be facing Shaun Micheals in the back. We waits for about 10 seconds and then just as he puts the mic back to his mouth the following can be heard... IF YOU SMELL..etc and the biggest pop ever happens as finally The Rock comes back to the WWE. he then cuts a truely electrifying promo in which he mentions that he has come back to have the one match that he and all the million and millions of the rocks fans have always wanted but never thought they would actually get to see. Shaun Micheals the Heartbreak Kid vs The peoples champ Rocky Miavia. The following couple of weeks are WWE gold leading into a true classic at WM.

winner: The Rock + handshake (in his one and possibly only WWE return he and the fans will want him to win and a loss + handshake to the great one wont really hurt HBK anyway)

    MITB match
Mr Kennedy vs MVP vs Kenny Dykstra vs Batista vs Matt Hardy
the annual MITB ladder match takes place at WM and each of the people who qualify through matches on Raw and SD has their own view on this match in the build-up to Wrestlemania. Mr Kennedy is the most experienced MITB participant as a previous winner having taken part in the two previous MITB because of this he is convinced that he will have the edge and take the briefcase. Batista believe he is better than everyone in this match and that it is almost below him, however he will use it as a means to an end, that end becomin World Heavyweight Champion again. Kenny Dykstra claims that this has always been a match that has propelled the careers of young stars forward and that it was his time nfor the Limelight. Meanwhile former US (Hardy beat MVP at WM24) and Tag-team champs MVP and Matt Hardy both claim to be ready to win the big one, to be WH champion. Matt Hardy ialso wants to follow in his brothers footsteps and win MITB (Jeff won at WM24). as mentioned below MVP, Mr Kennedy and Batista are also forced to team together as part of a six man interpromotional tag match at No Way Out.

    winner: Matt Hardy

US / European / Intercontinental Title unification triple threat match
CM Punk (US champ) vs Chris Jericho (IC Champ) vs Jeff Hardy[the last] (EU champ)
Jeff Hardy was the last ever european champion a fact that he emphasises during his pre-mania feud with Finlay who moved moved to Raw as part of the 2008 draft. Hardy starts wearing his old (year) European championship over his shoulder during this feud. It was obviously a little dig at the Irishman saying that he not Finlay represents Europe in the WWE as Jeff points out that finlay has never even been a WWE European champ. Jeff supposidly retains his defunct title against Finlay in a pre-ruble cage match on Raw in which he preforms a Swanton bomb off the cage. The following week on Raw Mr McMahon is making his announcement to do with changes to the WWE title seen. He says that despite him bringing back the cruiserweight crown that he thinks there are two many titles in the WWE at the moment and that when saying this he was refering specifically to the US, Intercontinental and even the European title which he had recently noticed was once again being defended. So he proposed amalgamating the US, IC & EU belts. CM Punk is the current US champ after winning the title back at Survivor series a few months after he also got drafted in the 2008 WWE Draft officially becoming a member of the SD roster, and copleting the trio is the IC champ Y2J Chris Jericho who has been IC ever since his shock win over Jeff Hardy at Cyber Sunday. in the build up to WM all three are forced to team together at NWO to face the first three qualified MITB contestants MVP, Mr Kennedy and Batista.

    winner: Chris "Y2J" Jericho

Mr McMahon then speaks to all the Cruiserweights in the WWE, he refers to how a little over a year ago their title the WWE Cruiseweight championship was deactivated due to the actions of his bastard son Hornswoggle, but that soon there would be a Cruiserwight champion again and that he wanted both SD and Raw to nominate one cruiserweight each at No Way Out and that these men would go on to WM to win the vacant belt. after defeating Jamie noble on SD, Rey Mysterio becomes SD pick and is announced by Teddy Long during a backstage segment at NWO. This has infuriated Victoria on Smackdown who has let it be known that she believes that if given a chance she could stop the Glamizon's reign. Then on the first Raw after the Rumble Vince comes down to the ring just after a womens match in which Phoenix squashes Kelly Kelly and announces the first of a number of changes he is going to make, that from now on Female wrestlers from all three brands will be able to challenge for the Womens championship and that the first Women to take advantage of this would be the black widow Victoria at No Way Out. However the SD before No Way Out when the two are in ring during intergender tag match Beth Phoenix injures Vicoria by refusing to break a leg lock. Then at NWO Teddy Long comes out and announces that instead of at NWO Victoria would get her shot at the WWE womens title at Wrestlemania. However after two consecutive PPV defeats firstly at Vengeance and secondly at the Great American Bash in a match which means the tag-team cannot challenge again while Carlito/Marella are champs. in both these defeats Holly is the one pinned which is why Rhodes begins to blame him for the losses and after a confrontation between the two backstage at Summerslam Rhodes announces he is going to ditch "The old man" and get himself a new partner. He begins his search for a new partner and feuds with Holly for the next month or two while new No.1 contenders (Cade/Murdoch)are named to face the Carlito/Marilla at Survivor Series. the champs retain but only after a dubbious finish in which Santino uses the ropes for leverage which leads to GM William Regal announcing a rematch for Armageddon where Cade/Murdoch finally win. at the same event Cody Rhodes unvails his new tag-team partner the young clean cut (anti-holly) DH Smith and that together they would be the new generation of tag champions in the WWE. following up on those words the two interfere in the tag champs Royal Rumble rematch causing a DQ finish and starting the three way feud between the newly formed team of DH Smith & Cody Rhodes, Cade/Murdoch and Santino & Carlito which runs all the way until WM25.

Sorry for not being earlier but I've been very busy this week

I'm going with TNA and their biggest PPV, which is apparently Bound For Glory although it doesn't really stand out as such (my task is to change that!). It's in about seven month's time

    * Starting from the top of the card, I'd have the biggest match possible for the TNA title headline the card. TNA have already held a lot of their big money matches and it hasn't meant much. One of the only top matches that they have left that hasn't been done is Samoa Joe vs Sting

This would come after Joe wins the title in April/May and spends the summer successfully defending against Angle, AJ and Booker. I would have Joe return to his no nonsense bad ass character that he had when he first started in TNA, as a face. Just look at the reactions he got back then compared to now

I wouldn't have Sting have much involvement in TNA between now and then, at the most I'd have him wrestle just two matches on PPV, against AJ and maybe Robert Roode too. This match would be built as Sting's last shot at the title and Joe's greatest challenge yet

To build it up, it'd have to start two months in advance with an interview with Sting where he states that he knows that his days as a wrestler are coming to a close but he still yearns for one more title run and he believes that he's capable of it. Joe would accept this the next week, saying that he doesn't back down from any challenge

Over the coming weeks there would be some more interviews with Sting where he gets over the fact that it is his one last shot and even mention that if he loses then he'll retire. Sting's pretty good at those sort of promos I think. None of these interviews would take place in front of the Impact crowd. In the meantime Joe will just be destroying guys on Impact. There would also be special videos that follow both men in their training for the big match, as well as video features highlighting what both men have done in TNA

Finally, one week before the PPV, Joe and Sting would meet in the ring for an interview and at the end of it they'd come to blows, having one of those pull-apart brawls around the arena that Joe used to do so well, making it more personal between the two

At the PPV I'd have Joe win, getting him over as the top guy in TNA and having Sting put him over as a man who is worthy of retiring him

    * Semi main event would be Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles. This would be built up following AJ's loss against Joe. They would continue being on the same side like they are now until then, with a few bumps along the way. After Kurt loses to Joe in June, he'd be real pissed off and AJ would give him a few pointers on how he could have won, or he'd simply annoy Kurt by winning his matches. This would lead to Kurt saying that if AJ thinks he's so good, why doesn't he challenge Joe

In AJ's match with Joe (in August) he'd come a lot closer to winning than Kurt came, which will send Kurt over the edge with him turning on AJ on the next Impact and injuring him. AJ would be out of action until he returns at the September PPV to attack Kurt after he wins his match. The whole thing should set AJ up as a sympathetic face who the fans love again

This match would be in contrast to the title match. The title match would be focused on how much the title means, how Joe believes that he's the best and how it's Sting's last chance. AJ vs Kurt is based on emotions, how much Kurt hates AJ and how AJ wants to prove to Kurt that he's as good as him. Kurt would win so that the feud could continue

    * Third match down is for the tag titles, LAX vs MCMG, LAX as champions. These really are the two best tag teams on the roster but unfortunately Sabin and Shelley appear to be getting bumped off Impact and PPVs because they refused to blade. I'd have them as a big deal on the show

For this I would have LAX return to being heels and give Homicide the mic. He mightn't be as good as Konnan was when he was managing them, but he's still very handy on the mic. I'd let Alex Shelley do the same thing for the Machine Guns

The build would have LAX returning to their old heel antics, attacking MCMG and their friends each week. Nothing fancy, just some good promos and some exciting interactions between the two teams in multi-man tags and singles matches

Sabin and Shelley would go over in a match that would be sure to deliver

    * Next down would be the Women's title elimination match. I'd put Awesome Kong and Gail Kim there on their own, but it's been done already. So this match can get all the women involved, yet still end with a Kong vs Gail match. I would have Gail defeat Kong to win the title

    * Now we've got a number one contenders match, Booker T vs Rhino vs Tomko vs Abyss in a NO THUMBTACKS OR BARBED WIRE match! I'd stick them in various singles and tag matches against each other leading to the match, with Tomko winning

    * The X-Division title match would be Jay Lethal vs Kaz, Lethal as champ going in. Somewhere along the line (probably a month or so before this match) Jay would turn heel, allowing So Cal Val to be dismantled by Awesome Kong perhaps, saying that he's got to look out for himself if he's to succeed and that everyone else is only holding him back. Kaz would take exception to this attitude, saving Val when Jay's about to let her get hurt in some other way

I would have Jay win, allowing this feud to continue and justifying Lethal's new mindset to him

    * Next we've got Christian vs Bobby Roode in a falls count anywhere match. This feud would initially start three months before, leading to a match between the two that Roode wins by cheating. This leads to a No DQ match the next month where Roode walks out on Christian while Christian is getting the upper hand. So that would lead to this falls count anywhere match

Christian would win to end the feud, in a match that goes all over the arena and through the fans. Since it's a gimmick match you could swap it with the women's title match to put it on a bit later, but I don't think it matters too much

    * And finally, the match which would kick off the show would be an X-Division battle royal, with a new guy entering the ring every two minutes. The winner would be the number one contender for the X-Division title

All the usual guys would be in this match, Petey Williams, Eric Young, Elix Skipper, Shark Boy, Curry Man, Jimmy Rave, James Storm, Sonjay Dutt and Johnny Devine. I'd have James Storm in there to show that you don't have to be small to win this title and I'd put Jacqueline in for the same sort of reason, anyone can win the title. Some Japanese and Mexican wrestlers who took part in the World X Cup would be in this match too, showing that the title matters around the world

This is the sort of match that gets the crowd going at the start of a show, fast paced and anyone could win. I would have Curry Man win, leading to a match with Jay Lethal where Jay beats everyone's favourite wrestler, adding to his heel heat

And that's your PPV! Eight matches. I didn't put as much background story into the six undercard matches as I did for the two main events because I believe that those two matches are a bigger reason to watch the PPV than all the other matches combined. It's a better decision to spend more time on hyping up the big matches than using that time in hyping up a match that isn't going to convince as many people to watch the PPV

Apologies if this is a little on the long side, once I started I just kept going!

I take it that Shark Boy turned heel when he went after Curry Man? How would that work when Curry Man is revealed as Daniels? Daniels is remembered as a heel, but Shark Boy is a heel too

I'd keep Curry Man around longer than that anyway, he gets better reactions than Daniels did in a long time

I'd be concerned about these two matches. After spending a few months building up Jeff and then winning the MITB match at WM 24 (as you said), plus presumably cashing that in and headlining a PPV, you reduce Jeff to defending a title that doesn't actually exist. I assume he'd have to be a heel too, because no one's going to cheer for him if he acts like that. Dropping the ball with Jeff I think

Same thing for Rey, his first Wrestlemania in three years (assuming that he actually is injured now) and he's fighting for a belt that hasn't meant anything in almost five years. He's one of the most popular guys in the company, I just think that he should be higher up the card

Yes as long as there an active wrestler or could at least wrestle, such as hulk hogan, however eddie guerrro etc you cant . Realism is key :)

The Rock and Trish were the only people not on the current Roster that I used and after all there is almost always 1+ person brought in for a big money matchs at WrestleMania such as Trump at WM23 or Mayweather at WM24 and like dave says realism is the key and the Rock is obviously someone we could realistically imagine making a one off Wrestlemania return to the WWE.

Well with regards to Ray he would be Smackdowns pick to represent them as their best Cruiserweight in the scenario outlined and that he is (SD's best CW) despite the fact that he has previously been pushed to main-event. He would also be a choice for this match because as the winner (which i did say he would be) he could lend credability to the Cruiserweight title on its return to use after almost a year in a half.

and with Jeff in that Scenario i would just have Finlay really playing up as a heel and getting the crowd 100% on his back. Finlay could be making statements like "Jeff wouldent last a minute wrestling in europe" and talk about how he has won every european title there is (he means in Europe) which could lead to Jeff pointing out that he was the last ever WWE European champ a title that Finlay never won. During the feud when he starts wearing his old belt JR and the King could refer to it as simply Hardy playing mind with the "fiendish Finlay", then as I saidJeff would defeat Finlay in their PPV match after which only a brief spell of time would pass with him still carrying the EU title before Vince announces the triple threat match for mania. A match which would still be very much so a high profile one and the level I honestly would expect him to be at come that point after his first title push (the 3month post MITB cashing in I mention in the Cena vs Taker section) which i doubt will be a long one it will be a see how he works as champ short one where he will get a second chance for a longer run down the line but first back feuding for the IC(combined) title with names like Jericho and CM Punk who at that time is being majorly pushed.

You see, Im not so sure the Rock returning is at all realistic because he has been distancing himself from the company in a big big way. He's even changed his name back to Dwayne Johnson. I'm not countering BH btw, just looking for a bit of clarification

    e.

On Clarification, you can put anyone you want in the PPV, but if you put someone life Benoit, or Bill clinton. or George bush/ Matt Damon , its going to count against you because A. it will never happen/ B. it is highly unlikely. The Rock on the other hand has a big history with the WWE , if you watched raw this monday or found out the news, its still realistic to see him back in the ring at some stage. The Rock was a professional wrestler and has come back for once off performances before.

    Hope that helps.

P.S Great work is almost finished so im off to bed :) Night shifts suck! , when bubs posts his Answer to round 5, ill have the results a few hours later.

    Round 5 Scores

Bounty Hunter (17) The Main event is perfect, Best draw the WWE could put on over the next 3 years really. Good build, Taker establishing himself as a monster, making it look like a another mountain for cena to climb, but this time the Dead Man comes out on top. Edge vs Randy Orton on the other hand is not great, Now im assuming they both stay as Heels, but you dont clarify this, and if its the case how do you plug this for WM? , WM with Heel vs Heel , generally need at least one of them to be a bit of a tweener, or to have a lot of back story. The Machon match sounds good, for promo's leading up to the match, which would force people to see what would happen after mania. Show Stealer would be the Rock vs HBK match, its well built to way you put it , finishes in a classy way, which would be great for the show, you'd want to clarify what match you want after it because the crowd wouldnt be into the match straight after this one. So womens match straight after would be better :) . MITB sounds fine, nothing special but gives someone a push afterwards, allows for feuds at NWO , which is good builder for the match. The whole European finaly vs jeff hardy match is a bit werid, very lower mid card match for Hardy, and would suffer from a lack of interest. Why have finlay feud with hardy for so long not to be in the match at WM as well ? . Cruiser Weight, Sounds fine for a first match except for the fact paul london ? . Rey doesnt need much build up, but Paul london would need a good push before WM , to make the match credible or at least so we dont automatically know whos going to win ,. Womens match sounds fine. ECW Match, i like the sound of it good build up and would start helms and benjamin on a good program for next few months making the ECW title mean something for a change. With a bit of work the tag match could be good, you could get some decent promos out of them but it would take a good bit of work, and would require some back story from rumble and NWO.

Fozzy (18) Samoa Joe vs Sting - Good solid match anyway, build up is excellent, perfect old pro vs wrestler trying to prove himself against a legend. Kurt angle vs Aj styles i feel would steal the show, the background is perfect for AJ, and it would allow angle to perform some excellent promo's. I like the way in which you say that the Feud could continue after the ppv , all of the matches you guys make do not need to end at the PPV. Tag match is not great, but what tag division at any company is at the moment ? .Christian vs Bobby Roode sounds like a good old fashioned FAlls count anywhere match, a bit of back story would be nice for this one , you say there be a few matches beforehand but you give no reasons why. X-division battle royal, nice light weight contest to start it all off does set tone for a PPV. Good Answer, I do like the way you put majority of your answer into the first two fights, an highlight the point that the reason why most people by a PPV is the Main event fights.

Machismo Fan(17) Solid Card, Start of event seems good, without being spectacular, if the Curry man ,shark boy match was build up on impact properly it could be a very good match. Would really like to see the tag match, leading to a nice continuation feud, Cage Booker, booker doesnt win any match?. Would not be great for the feud. X divsion match perphas should be first on the card. Best part of answer would be kurt angle vs jeff jarret, good back story, would lead to a change of story lines not just Angle and Jarret, Great to see karen out of picture as well. Main event i think would be damaged by the Angle Jarret match, However i like the push you give the James storm depending on how long and how much air time he gets it could make it into a very good main event.

Cactus Col (16) The monsters match is an interesting concept however it wouldnt be great opener , I know its a SS ppv, however having more than one is risky, i like the fact your including the previous rounds answer, but its light heavy weight division against the guerrero family and MVP, which seems a waste for MVP whos on the up in all aspects of character. I like the IC ladder match, a way to push the mid carders again and a strong match for it, The Main SS match 5 man tag is weakened by the fact that Vickie is involved the other SS match, which would lead to confusion, and also a clear line which one is more important at the PPV which would devalue your first one and if it was the end of a feud would not be great for CM punk. Main evnet sounds Good, but unlike other contestants you dont give much of a back story for Matt hardy to push for the title besides winning the Royal rumble.

The winner of ATH4 is Fozzy ! , Congratulations, Good final answer with alot of back story for them, Your Samoa joe sting and Angle /AJ matches you push are excellently put forward which got you top score, Im lucky no one posted ROH or i would have needed Double C's help, i waited as long as i could for bubs, but im goin to the states in the early morning so ive ran out of time. Bounty hunter with a little more development to the matches before the main events it would have been hard not give you a very big score. Ive posted Some of my notes for marking on the final round for everyone. I really enjoyed being host, Thanks guys.

P.S ill try and take your title next time Fozzy ! :) If theres spelling or grammar mistakes, im to lazy to fix them now.

Cheers Danger Dave! Well done hosting it, was a great bit of fun doing it.

And well done Fozzy of course!
Surprised I got joint second, I guess everyone else must've been off their game, because I'm usually just making up the numbers. I think the 2nd round, and the last round, probably let me down the most.
