    .. I was reading one of the local rags a few weeks back & they'd a photo feature on 'Debs' in Sligo. There were the usual 'prizes' for best dressed guys & gals, but also a disturbing 'best entrance' one for couples who'd arrived in vintage cars... and even worse - one couple who arrived by helicopter!!

    The funny thing was that the couple were from Ballymote & the debs was on in the Sligo Park, which means in all likelihood, they'd to drive from Ballymote (bypassing the Park) and out to Strandhill airport, just so they could get the helicopter to fly them back into the hotel. Prize for the biggest waste of cash should've applied there!

    Oh god them pictures in the local rags make me cringe:o Honestly I feel sorry for the people who actually want to appear in any of those dressed like mini ballroom dancers. They are going to look back in ten years and be mortified!

    It's a sign of where the country is headed. How can these people grow up to be rounded people with a start to life like that? Such a waste of money for a bunch of greasy teenagers to "bling" it up and then get hammered drunk and pee their pants with drink. The girls spend a fortune on clothes they'll never wear again and most of the guys turn up looking like an extra from Bugsy Malone (black suit, black shirt, red or white tie). They think it looks mafia, but the mafia have more taste than that.
    And then to turn up driving your daddie's BMW, or in a Hummer, or a helicopter for Christ's sake? This generation will be the first to have almost nothing in common with the ones going before it.

    when i was at the ursuline grad a few years back i had to laugh at the sheer amount of orangeness :D

    Me and my date got a lift in a ford escort to the grad! That was only in the mid 90's though. Imagine a young fella pullin up outside the hotel in one of those now :eek:
