I was just browsing around various cars on the American eBay site (I do it often when I'm bored), when I came across this Daewoo:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-Daewoo-Lanos-w-2-TVs-and-DVD-player-N-R_W0QQitemZ140206421153QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140206421153

While the car itself isn't special, it's the reg. plate on the front of it is something you don't see to often in America! It came up as Range Rover on Cartell!

Surely you can't have two different reg. plates on the same car?

maybe they just made up mock plates for the picture? awful car all the same.

That's it. If you look at the back of the car, it is indeed registered in the US of A.

AFAIK you don't need a front numberplate in the US ...not in all states anyway.

You often see vanity plates on the front (why you would choose an Irish reg for that is beyond me though) and the "real" plate on the back.

Daewoo changed their name to Chevrolet back in 2004/2005 anyway and the Lanos was well and truely dead at that stage.

Front reg is most probably just for a laugh.

in most us states, you are only required to have a plate on the back of the car. Plates on the back have a little sticker thats the equivalent of the road tax...

plates also follow the owner and not the car (at least in illinois)

plus they said it the add that theyve owned the car for 2 years and the car is an 07 reg so.........perhaps its seen as a cool "mod"

theres also the ph. no of the garage the plate was made in if you squint a bit

The plate says Mercedez Benz www.annesleymotors.ie Tel: (01) 855 5991

Which matches what the website says

No front number plate req'd in Georgia either, and lots of 'us' stick old plates on the front.

Other leave German/Swiss no's on their BeeEmm's/Merc's etc - just for the Euro look

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

But an Irish reg. on a Daewoo?

On a DeLorean, maybe, but not some heap of Korean scrap.
