Oh acupuncture is wonderful! Make sure you eat something before you go - you could feel sick/dizzy afterwards. And don't be surprised if all your emotions come to the surface. You might spend the rest of the day crying but it will do you good! After many years of trying, I got my BFP on my 2nd cycle with acupuncture. My little boy is almost and I'm back at acu trying to give him a bro/sis.

Did anyone watch the Late Late on Friday - I am raging - it was awful!

No, I didnt see it? Why, what did they do/say?

Where do you both go for accupuncture? If you are Dublin based would you mind saying who you go to? Wouldnt know where to start!

Oh great, thanks for the tips :)

Yes two girls in work have become pregnant after going for acupuncture! I have a gynae apt on the 8th March but it's so expensive that I'm really hoping I am pregnant before that so I can cancel :pac:

we have already spent over €1000 on gynae appts which so far has been fine but we have no idea who much more we'll need to spend :( I want to exhaust every avenue we can before we admit defeat and get medical fertility treatment.

Well I went to Peter Lenehan almost two years ago and was told there's nothing acually wrong with me so I should be able to get pregnant but I've heard so many good things about Nikki Kroon that I'm switching to her now but she is more expensive. My friend got 10 sessions of acupuncture for €450 - got pregnant after the first one!

My GP referred me direct to a gynae in a fertility clinic, can they not do the same for you guys? It seems like such an unnecessary step to spend months of gynae visits (financial and emotional) when its likely a gynae with fertiilty expertise in the clinic you would end up seeing anyway.

hey ladies, haven't been on in a while, ttc was getting on top of me. Just got my BFP a few days ago :):), was due to start IVF today! So after 2.5 years, 27 cycles (15 medicated {12 clomid and 3 injects}) and one m/c, here I am, pregnant on an unmedicated cycle. I really really can't believe it. Miracles do happen. I hope this little twiglet sticks around. xx

Hi Neyite, I did first go to a fertility specialist but as i needed a laparoscopy I was referred back to a gynae specialising in that. I'd imagine it would cost me the same whomever I was seeing???

I could have gone to a public clinic but I work in a private one so I have relatively easy access to a number of consultants and my health insurance does refund me most of it at the end of each quarter so it's really just the upfront payment that is hard. Even the acupuncture can be claimed back.

Actupuncture was good, I was definitely expecting to feel "something" after doing it but I didn't at all. She wants me to use my ovulation sticks from day 10 which is Friday and come for three more sessions within this cycle. If I don't ovulate she will give me medication to bring it on but I think I am ovulating so we shall see. She is a really lovely doctor who explained her whole "plan" to me and told me everything that is going to happen and what she expects from me. Gave me some exercises too to do :)

    Hi Ladies,
First of all congrats to DetectivFoxtrot - great news!
I'm a first time poster - so bear with me if I am repeating or asking questions that have been asked millions of times before.....
ttc at the moment, I am 32 & came off the pill sept 2010, have been taking folic acid since then. My period came back pretty much straight away, 1st cycle was 35 days, then bout 31/32 days for a while and have been between 26 - 29 days for the last 10 cycles.
I know it's not that long that we have been trying but starting to feel like ages - is there anything else we should be doing?
Starting to get frustrating, other friends announcing their good news and stuff.. I just don't know if this is 'normal' or if there is anything else that would help us along the way??

The guidlines are that you should try for a year if under 35 and for 6 months if over. After a year trying I went to the GP to begin investigations, and its no harm to do so- you might have a simple hormone imbalance that is hindering your chances or something like that.

Are you charting or using ovulation predictor kits? understanding and tracking your cycle enhances your success rates. I can understand your frustration at other peoples good news - all of us who have used this forum has experienced the "baby envy" that you get when you hear the good news of others for whom it was seemingly effortless. (its a good place to vent about it her too :))

And I know I've congratulated you Detective Foxtrot - but hey! CONGRATS AGAIN!!!

Thanks Neyite - I am not charting but have been using ovulation predictor kits & watching for ovulation symptoms etc for about a year. No joy so far.. just not sure what to do now.. Might try my GP next, he knows I'm ttc & I mentioned it to the nurse at the clinic in dec and she said it can take a year for the pill to come out of your system etc.. I know this but seen as my periods have been quite regular I just feel I don't know what to do next.

thanks all, I'm made up ;)

Feckin brilliant news! I was just thinking the other day "I wonder when DTF is going to make another appearance on the TTC thread".
    Delighted for you

I should say, I was thinking of you as while I was TTC I read the entire TTC thread from start to finish over a couple months and I read so much of your story (along with other TTCing boardsies) and you always had great tips & a great attitude. So thanks for all your unwitting encouragement to others along the way.
