@Lucyfur, this probably goes without saying but I'm thrilled for you! So glad that so far its all good news.

There's so many of you getting up the duff on here lately that I have trouble remembering who has a bun in the oven! But I'm really happy for all of you and wish you the best of luck!

Those of you still on the journey, I'm hoping that you get your happy poositives soon too. :)

I was talkin to one of the obstetricians in work today and she said that it is unlikely that a sac would be big enough to be seen on a scan until hcg levels are above 1000.

Lucyfur, I mentioned the past weeks events to her and she said that it all sounds very positive and that you probably ovulated later. Hopefully at your next scan you'll be able to see your little bean :)

We went to SIMS today for a 2nd opinion on our situation so they've suggested lots more tests
    EU Screening
    Fasting implantation profile
    Saline Sonography
    Autoimmune panel
    Chicago bloods
He sees us as having a 30-40% chance of miscarrying again.
He expects something to turn up with these.
Anyway we took all the info and said we'd come back it's over €2000 worth of tests!!!

    :D:D

    Thank you!!!!

I saw lots of doctors and midwives when I was in hospital and I asked ALL of the how high my levels would have to be to see anything on a scan, they all said between 1000 and 1500, so hopefully, if everything continues to develop, we'll see something on Thursday:D

I feel like poo today, really hungover feeling, not fair lol. Not long home and I'm in bed already:p

    pmsl!! :P

I hear ya sister, 3 days on the trot for me (with us doing it every second day the last week or so also), and I have a cold, feel positively crappy. OH was heading out to do a shift this eve, so I had to accost him when I got in from work an hour ago and have a quickie :o We were laughing at the madness of it all so it was uite a bit of fun! I think today is the day so couldn't miss the opportunity, I'd have to wait til morning and that could be too late for the eggie.
I got a second positive ovulation test today.

Oh by the way, best value ever, I purchased 100 ovulation test on eBay for €13 (incl. P&P), when purchasing I sent a message to the seller asking them to despatch urgently. Ordered on tues, arrived Thurs!! brill service and superb value. If anyone wants a linkie let me know.

I've heard of some of those tests. Wowzers, 2K is a lot, but hopefully you get the answers you need and they can put a strategy in place so you can get your take-home baby, GL with it and keep us posted x
Incidentally how do they know your chances of miscarrying again? Is there something wrong with the structure of your uterus that they can see? Just wondering how they can tell that, it's amazing..

I think the figure he came yp with was based on my history and his experienc. I was shocked it was so high.
The EU screening i think is HIV etc so normal
Fasting implantation is for pre diabetes
    Saline sonography for physical abnormalities
Auto immune is what it sounds like and if this shows issues then full chicago bloods for detail. That's the most expensive €1000 :-(
I have to say i was overwhelmed and am worried. Plus he says my egg reserves or follicles are low can't remember which i think eggs.
But it is day 8 so we're up and running tonight no matter what, plus cough bottle and low geade aspirin. Fingers crossed we do this on our own. Sometimes it's all too much.

Lucyfur you're right to take it easy

Girls, I bought these ovulation sticks of amazon and im having a hard time reading them :o

They say that two lines should be visible, a control line and a test line. Should the control line already be there before i dip it? They are really confusing!

On mine there are no lines before you dip, after dipping 2 lines means fertile, 1 line means not....

DFT has brilliant instructions somewhere, gonna go have a look for you:)

Have a read through that. DFT has pics posted about half way down the first page.

Dip for no less than 10 seconds, lie test on a flat surface, facing up, wait 5 minutes for a result. 2 lines indicates a surge.

    Happy testing:D

oh thanks, that was really good. It was a negative which I expected as im on day 35 of cycle. Not sure what to do if AF doesnt come. When will i ovulate again? Or will I? God, its all so confusing!

    You will;)

I know, it's an incredibly frustrating time. You're recently off the pill, am I right? Sometimes it can take a little while for everything to settle down, just keep tracking your cycle, don't be embarrassed about asking anything either, we're all in the same boat here;)

I go by my cervical mucous mainly, for me it's a great indication. Clear and stretchy with an egg white consistency is fertile, I know when that's coming, so we plan sex around that week.

    x

I keep the stick dipped until the urine travels up the stick and totally coats it. Sometimes this can take 30 seconds.
The internet cheapies can be a bit of a pain, but I love them as I've gotten used to them. With the ovulation tests it's important to remember that sometimes it takes 20 to 30 mins to see the result, the test line takes much longer to darken up than on the pregnancy tests. The risk is, you think it's negative and trash it, only for it to turn positive. Best to test, leave for 20 mins then have a look.

Tests should never have lines before they are dipped. The control line (the line nearest the coloured tip) shows the test is working, and it's there for you to compare the test line against. On ovulation tests you will always get two lines (unlike pregnancy tests were you'll only get the two lines if it's positive). This is because LH is present in your urine at all times, it just surges the day before ovulation and that surge triggers ovulation, the surge is what gives you the positive.
Always remember to use concentrated urine, otherwise a diluted sample may show a negative when it should be positive. Never use first morning urine, as LH synthesizes in your urine in the morning so you could get a negative when you are in fact surging. Test between 10am and 8pm for best results. Personally I use second morning urine (about 10.30am/11am) as it's still quite concentrated.

Here is an example of a two negative ovulation tests:
    http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/97/Positieve_LH-test_-_detail_kleur.jpg/202px-Positieve_LH-test_-_detail_kleur.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.aboutgettingpregnant.com/blog/ovulation-tests.html&usg=__aC_ZH7L_QgPCrCxowxwX3A647qM=&h=190&w=202&sz=5&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=tDcawnKhaW-0OM:&tbnh=152&tbnw=161&ei=M1DETcDYOoHDhAeswoCiBA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dnegative%2Bovulation%2Btest%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1366%26bih%3D643%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=532&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0&tx=66&ty=139

    and here is a positive:
    http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i294/Pictures123_02/IMG_1976.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.soulcysters.net/showthread.php%3F186194-Will-an-HCG-shot-affect-a-Ovuation-test-OPK-pic-included.&usg=__Iupxa0Q9YQ2zT4HGPkxieVDt84c=&h=600&w=800&sz=22&hl=en&start=90&zoom=1&tbnid=J3--69iRCJdIkM:&tbnh=158&tbnw=203&ei=4VDETfnnAYyzhAe-pu2HBA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpositive%2Bovulation%2Btest%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1366%26bih%3D643%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch0%2C2460&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=872&vpy=298&dur=4996&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=178&ty=100&page=6&ndsp=19&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:90&biw=1366&bih=643

In the positive example above, the test line is darker than the cotrol line, however it doesn't have to be darker to be positive, once it's as dark as the control line. Also, an 'almost positive' means you are just about to surge so get busy anyway!
If you always just get 'almost positives' around your regular ovulation time, and you have other signs that you are ovulating e.g. ovary pain, watery/egg white mucous, you can take it that the 'almost positive' is in fact your positive, you'll get to knew this the longer you use the tests and the more familiar you become with your cycles and body signs.

Lastly, here is an illustrated guide to positives and negatives:

Barbiegirl, I hope you're alright, you sound very down from your post. It has to be overwhelming being told all of the tests you'll need.
& if it was me the cost would also be alarming.

Will you have to start the tests soon or are you going to wait a while? I really hope things will happen of their own accord & you wont have to go through all the tests.

CCL, what a legend! that's so lovely of you to find out that info for Lucyfur! Great to get reassurance like that I'm sure!

Lucyfur, I hope you're going to have a nice relaxing weekend. Brilliant that things are looking increasingly positive with your pregnancy (hungover aside!)

DTF & Neyite - hope your two week wait flies by :)

I'm ok i was just very down and over whelmed earlier by quantity of information, tests and definitely the costs. Hubbie home now so just going to relax for the weekend and thwn see what we think in terms of when to start next week.

Currently on CD11, well CD12 now as it is the next day :o
Still testing negative on OPK but CM is getting runnier (is that a word??:)), did the deed tonight just to be sure. According to my chart I should ovulate on Monday or Tuesday, we'll see soon enough I suppose.

Barbiegirl I'm sorry you're feeling down right now, I'm not experienced enough with this whole area of things so I'm just sending you out positive vibes.
Happy trying everyone, lets hope there are more good annoucements soon!!:)

well...we certailnly gave it our best this month...every other day and then every day from day 11 to 17, what will be will be i suppose! I just really hate this last week (on day 21) of the 'wait' not sure when to test...let me know what ya think, last cycle was 34 days but before that 27,29,29,28. I know this time next week ill be dying to test, but really dont want to test to early cos it only leads to more intensified wondering!! dont know if last month was just an freak longer month..or dont know if i should wait til dat 33-34 to test? i normally ger brown mucous (sorry...:o) the day or two before (this started after my miscarraige 10 months ago). so i suppose that woul let me know..oh ive no idea! but i want a clear plan in place of when i should test so that i dont covince myself its a good idea to test on day 24 or something!!!
myself and hubby convinced this is our month...ive been so nauseous for last couple days (yes i do realise its so stupid to think i could tell this early!!! stupid...and desperate!! haha!!) hope you all have a lovely lovely weekend and enjoy the baby making!! x

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,196 ✭✭✭crazy cat lady

Dublinlady, I went off tea and wine literally within a few days of conception on all of my pregnancies, so I believe you can have signs very early. Fingers crossed for you!

On the testing front, If your cycle is usually 28-29 days, I would consider last month to be a weird month and test this month on day 28 with a first response with the first pee.

    Hope this helps :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,513 ✭✭✭✭Lucyfur

Dublinlady, I agree with CCL, wait until your due your period before testing, I know, easier said than done but it's worth waiting.

Barbiegirl, I hope you're having a lovely weekend with your hubby, I've been thinking about you all weekend xx

Tigeress, big day tomorrow!!! What time is the scan at? Hope you're still feeling well and positive:)

DFT and Neyite....are ye done with all the riding now and officially in the two week wait bracket?:D:D:D

Big hello to everyone else, hope everyone is well and happy:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,992 ✭✭✭dublinlady

Thanks for the replies, ya CCL that helped, wasn't sure to go with 28 or 34! And that's interesting about you going off tea and wine!! Well I'm just hoping and praying!
Lucyfur I agree testing early is not a good plan, I just wasn't sure whether I would consider my period due on day 28 or day 34! I'm gonna do what CCL said and presume last month was a weird one (34 days) and test on day 28 with a first response!
Hope your feeling well lucyfur and starting to enjoy this brilliant time! X

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭Tigeress

Thanks Lucyfur :) yup big day is at 9:30am tomorrow :( cannot wait! My OH took the day off in the end, delighted I dont have to go alone! Really really hope I see something! I got my hormone check a week ago & I was at 2400 ish so I hope with CCL's info that I'll see something!

DL I agree with CCL I think day 28 for testing :) I really really hope this is your month xxx

Barbiegirl I hope you're ok hun.. That's Alot to take in with all those tests! Are you gonna get them done? Thinking if you xx

knackered! I am so done with sex this cycle. My pattern is:
    Cycle Days - 6; 8, 10; 13; 15; 16; 17; 18
Ovulated on either day 16 or 17 so my timing is good
    Today is day 19
Well earned break today and for the rest of the two week wait!
