Unfortunately I think it's delusional. I just gave in and did an early pregnancy test and it was negative. If I go to the doc this month what exactly will they begin by checking?

Fingers crossed it was just too early to test, if you weren't expecting your period for another 5 days I doubt you'd have gotten a positive yet. But if it does turn out to not be your month the first thing a doctor will do is blood tests, specifically on day 3 and day 21, which is a basic ovarian reserve test. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ovarian_reserve They can also take extra blood to check out your general health, thyroid etc. They may also want to do a smear test depending on when your last one was. And they can do the similar blood tests for your husband, including a prostate one - which is now detectable from blood, just to rule out any problems. They can also organise a basic sperm analysis.

I was like clockwork on the pill but in hindsight it is so false. I felt absolutely nothing. I feel so aware of my body now by comparison. I'm CD32 now and judging by ovulation dates, I think it should be a 37day cycle as per the previous 2 months. Am hoping against hope this month. Am smothered with headcold this week and was afraid to take too much much medication just in case :o

Headcolds are one of the worst for making you feel like a hammered bag of sh1te!

I agree the periods on the pill are so light & false. My first real ones since coming off pill have been so heavy & actually woke me up from the pain - I've not had that since I was a teenager. Also sore boobs & horrendous skin. I really feel like I'm 13 or 14

Well got my period on saturday ...so peed off. So I was put on puregon 300 iu for 3 days and the menopur for 7 and then I am having the trigger shot on day 11 if there big enough so here we go again. I am having really bad headaches from injections anyone else in the same boat

    Thanks for all the advice.
Mink, had a good giggle r.e. your sis 'Hoovering the stuff up' very funny.
Iguana, thanks for the info on the Cleablue fertility monitor, sounds like it could be a goer for me as i defo fall in that range. I May see the Doctor for tests (as DTF suggests) and if please god everything is ok & i am ovulating (just irregularly) I will invest in the monitor.
Day 21 today and still no positive opk, still dtd though as much as possible and hoping that the surge is just always to short for me to catch!
    good luck all.

Joanie37 hope you feel better soon!

AF arrived yesterday for me, after the initial sadness that comes with it I was actually delighted(Must be going mad), but my cycle last month was 45 days and it ranges anywhere from 36 to the high fourties. Yesterday was CD29 shortest cycle in over a year :D:D:D

I am attributing this to the acu, don't reckon I have been on maca long enough to give these results but you never know!!

Fingers crossed for everyone still in the running this month :)

Interesting you say that re the acupuncture. I was giving out to my chiropractor re my schedule being irregular & she said to go to an acupuncturist she uses who specialises in fertility. A friend of her's went to another acupuncturist (in Galway) I think it regulated her cycle for her.

I'm considering giving it a go if my cycle is all over the place again this month, I like acu anyway :D

Yeah I'm finding it so beneficial for a few different reasons and am so pleasantly suprised by my cycle this month! I didn't go with the specific intention of regulating it but it obviously did the trick!

Would so recommend it to anyway who's considering it. If anything it's 30mins in your day when you get to lay there and relax....always a bonus :D

I'm out this month girls, AF came early :( Bit upset about it all but shur what can you do. It meant that there were only 11days post ovulation as opposed to 14. Cycle is now down to 34 days which is the shortest yet since i came off the pill.

We have now been trying 7months. Would you visit a GP yet or give it another chance? Am totally torn.

Newbie, dunno your age but if you`re over 30/35 Doctor`s might do something, if not, a lil white lie saying you`re 12/18months trying might get them to take more notice...?!?;)
If our cars weren`t working our fella`s would probably be onto the garage asap so don`t worry about going too soon!!
If I`m not pregnant by christmas I`ll be going postal down the testing route
    :)
I had my first appointment with an acupuncturist last thurs, I don`t know if anything was different after but I`m deffinitely more relaxed. Its strange having the needles in you. not as painful or uncomfortable as I thought.
Anyway got a positive OPK sunday so we`re TTC`ing for these 3/4 days.
I`ve a good feeling about this cycle (famous last words)

Newbie, I'd go to the doc anyway. They say that if you are over 35 you should go after 6 months of TTC, and if under 35 after a year of TTC. You could always go in to query your short luteal phase and get the bloods done to check that out -its the same things they test anyway?

Not happening for me this month. The cruel period came this morning, a week late, after keeping me awake all night.

Bit annoyed today between lack of sleep and obv disappointment but we've the honeymoon to look forward to next week. Bit of relaxation and change of atmosphere is definitely required. On the bright side at least I won't be deprived of champagne breakfasts and cocktails.

Hoping for everyone, and send some good luck my way! A honeymoon baby would be PERFECT!

Right enough is enough. I have decided that this month is my magic month. I feel so unbelievably determined that it's going to happen this month. I'm starting the sperm meets egg plan today. I have my fertility monitor to tell me all the ins and outs of my fertile days (still low fertility). I've just sextupled my dose of evening primrose oil, along with all of my other gazillion supplements. My husband's sperm is stuffed with mobile soldiers and he's a full 6 weeks off his medication so their dna should be stable now, and extra super thanks to his gazillion supplements.

Today is cycle day 8, or in other words; I am 8 days pregnant and having a June baby.

Please, please, please let my body get with the programme!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭Digs

Iguana your determination is infectious, june baby has a nice ring to it alright :D

Denhaagenite fingers crossed for honeymoon baby and enjoy!!! I was on mine in August and all was going great until I got a bad kidney infection 4 days in :( Good excuse to have another mini honeymoon in the new year sometime though :P

Newbie I agree, it can't hurt. As Neyite said even to check out your short luteal phase?

Thanks girls. I called the doc and got an appointment to have bloods drawn on CD3. What swung it in the end was a dizzy spell I got today..the period pains are very bad this time. Will report back.

Best of luck Iguana, am rooting for you this month. And Denhaggenite...have a fabulous honeymoon. Enjoy all the champagne the budget will stretch to becuase hopefully in a few months you won't be in a position to drink ;)

I guess I'm the supplement nutter of this thread as I have my husband and me on lots of them.

We both take royal jelly, bee pollen, bee propolis (only for the first 2 weeks of my cycle for me) maca, spirulina and omega 3 fish oils. These are super foods and will all around improve everything, but the maca in particular improves sperm and libido, it can also help keep a woman's progesterone lower which helps implantation. I've decided to take a low dose of it through any pregnancy but there may be reasons not to and it's worth going back a few pages to read the links about it.

I also take agnus castus, (for the first 2 weeks of the cycle) 4x400mg a day, this is to regulate my cycle and improve my odds of ovulating. (It's nickname is herbal clomid.)
Evening primrose oil (for the first 2 weeks of the cycle) 6x500mg, this is to give me extra cervical mucus and help ease my periods. (Which I will not be getting for a very long time, ok body!)
Pregnacare conception, 1 a day, this has folic acid, b vitamins and lots of other properties for helping get pregnant.
Extra iron (for my anemia) my doctor also suggested it would make my periods less heavy and stop my mid-cycle bleeding, which it seems to have.
Extra magnesium when I have muscle tension but it's a very good mineral for conception and early pregnancy.

He also takes, Kudzu, L-Tyrosine and magnesium these are good for sperm but they also help him when he is stressed and help him sleep as he tends to suffer from insomnia and sleeping pills are not advised for TTC.
Wellman conception 1 a day, the male version of pregnacare.
L-Glutamine, improves sperm but also helps cut sugar cravings, which is a good thing as he'd eat sweets all night and day if he could and too much processed sugar is bad for ttc.

If we are out of the wellman or pregnacare we both take a pregnancy supplement which has a lot of the same ingredients and is about a quarter of the cost.

Also I posted before that he cycles everyday to and from work. Well he's decided to cut that out during my fertile time as regularly cycling for over 5 hours a week can damage sperm.

I'm so into the supplements and ttc diet that a few weeks ago I woke up before my husband and made porridge with blackberries that I'd picked from the garden and brought him breakfast in bed. The first thing he said was; "remind me how porridge and berries are good for my sperm." I was just being nice.:(

Iguana, you are a wealth of knowledge.

Himself is already taking wellman conception and zinc tablets. Must get some maca for us both - this TTC lark does take the fun out of things.

what can you share with me about TTC diets?

I have been going to the gym 3 times a week and healthy eating as i do need to loose some weight. considering how good ive been the weight isnt coming off too quickly - its as if it knows i really wanna loose the weight!

I don't think it's brave so much as desperate to get pregnant. I'm with you on the getting pregnant before Christmas. Am just praying that all tests with the doc are normal. Am getting quite anxious about it all now and I know that anxiety can be damaging so I need to learn to chill out.

On an aside, today has been the worst cramps and period pains I have ever experienced. I recall ms2011 saying she came off agnus castus for a reason like this but I can't find her post now. I really don't want to take it again this cycle but to be fair the month I took it was the first time that I got a positive on the opk test. Might ask doc what to do.

Had my early scan this morning.
What an emotional morning!:) I had been doing my best not to be thinking too negatively or positively – on one hand I was scared that I have no symptoms and thought that I might have had a missed miscarriage, on the other I was thrilled to be finally pregnant, even if it had been for a little while, all the time trying not to stress either way. So you can imagine my head has been a right muddle for the last few weeks.

This morning’s scan was purely to check for a heartbeat and multiples and check the dating, however at this stage dates can obviously be here or there slightly. So the nurse explained that she would firstly check the heartbeat (and therefore put us at ease) then check the rest. It was a vaginal scan so no need for the full bladder, thank god

So, within seconds, she located the sac and showed us the heartbeat, and I started to cry with pure relief. Baby is measuring my dates exactly at 7w4d. Then she located another heartbeat....TWINS!!! The second little one is measuring 7w1d, and his/her sac is much smaller, but the heartbeat was good and strong all the same. Big twin is 13.25mm and little twin is 10.55mm. Both ovaries showed the corpus luteum, so progesterone is not a concern. Since they have their own sacs, they are non identical.

We are overjoyed, shocked, delighted, terrified, relieved – pretty much every emotion is running through us at the moment. My OH is totally lost for words and was in awe of what we saw on the screen. Its early days still, and everything in Gods hands, but so far, he is doing a decent job of keeping my little family safe. :D:D

I got the referral for the GP to start the ball rolling on my maternity paperwork, and I also have to notify my endocrinologist due to the prolactin issue, and have another private scan in 2 weeks to check on them.

It is really hard when you hear about friends being pregnant. Have friends who've not even been going out a year and she's 3 months gone with twins now. She planned the pregnancy without him knowing even. It's the last in a long line of straws and we've chosen to remove them from the Christmas card list now. I know that sounds OTT but I feel if our views and feelings clash so much with theirs, and even thinking about them makes us angry then what is the point?

Alot of it is because friends and family are having children now, we would like to have the support network and have our children grow up close in age to theirs.

Dog has been super sweet with us this week too, think she knows we're a bit sad about something :).

Neyite, I'm delighted for you and your hubbie :D That's fantastic news

yes hearing about friends being pregnant can be hard, you just yearn for a baby so much, however I try not to let it interfere with them, their happiness, news and excitement. I want my baby, not theirs and we will get there eventually :D

I had my appointment with the miscarriage clinic yesterday and am having chromosnyl tests, immunology, infection and everything else they can think of. So continuing to try and back with them in 8 weeks for results :D

Thanks for the good wishes. Great that you are getting the tests done - it must feel so proactive, which can only be a good thing. Hopefully they find out what caused your losses and before long you have your own little ones running around.

I found it hard too to hear about pregnancies, but I was glad for those who's happy news came along, and hoped that mine would too. Like you I wanted my babies, not anybody elses!.
