receipts the norm or not

can someone enlighten me - what is the story with receipts - i am using sage and there is no facility to print a receipt- i was just going to reprint the invoice and write/stamp PAID on it or something, but then it got me thinking ... if there's no facility on sage to do it then maybe it's not an expectation for most…
