Liverpool v Inter Milan - Inter 1-2 (not sure about the win, but defo get the away goal I think)
    *******kos v Chelsea - Chelsea
Roma v Real Madrid - Madrid (high scoring game I think, both defences are ****)
    Schalke 04 v FC Porto - Porto

Arsenal v AC Milan - Milan (no idea though really. Both teams have injuries, not sure who is gona play)
    Celtic v Barcelona - Barce
    Fenerbahce v Sevilla - Sevilla
Lyon v Man Utd - United (Gona stick my head out and say I think we'll win this leg and tie relatively easily. Lyon have been **** this year, not least because their defence just isn't up to it. That said, they have it in them)

In terms of overall, I think what's interesting is how you could easily see a lot of teams just showing up on the night.
However, I would say I'd be surprised to see any of the folllowing win

    *******kos
    Celtic
    Fenerbahce

After that, I think it's well open

Celtic will be tough, great team with a great history... They usually play excellent against Barcelona, especially compared to most other british teams... Hopefully we'll go through, but it definitely wont be easy...

United should also go through, they just have heaps of quality, fantastic young squad...

Arsenal vs Milan- Arsenals losing approach to the FA cup this weekend better be worth it. I personally think this could go either way, a moment of magic from Pirlo/ Adebayor could win the tie.

I reckon Inter will knock out the pool... I just think Inter are due a good european cup run, especially considering their squad. But with liverpool you never know, especially in Europe.

Olymp1akos vs Chelsea- Obviously chelsea are the favourites, but of all the upsets possible i reckon this could be it, olymp1akos played excellently against madrid over 2 legs.

Sevilla should walk Fenerbache. I got fantastic odds on Sevilla to win the CL just after they lost to arsenal, so theyll be a team ill root for throughout the tournament.

    Porto should edge Schalke.

Madrid vs Roma- should be a very good game, Madrid will outscore Roma, but there should be loads of goals!

Looking forward to it too EB and my shift cycle finishes on Tuesday so Wednesday night should be good.

Only I'm living in Ayrshire (Rangers country) and you'd be surprised how hard it is to see Celtic games here.

Must check up on "Irish" pubs up the road or something. Or maybe head up to Glasgow.

Looking forward to this - I have a ticket for Wednesday night which is amazing considering I gave up my season ticket 2 years ago.

BTW, Barcelona were the only side to beat Celtic at home in the CL format. Henrik Larsson returning to Celtic Park to score.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kraggy

    Hey Dub in Glasgo

If you come across a spare ticket on Wednesday for some reason, give me a PM as I'm only down the road and can be up in a jiffy.

Fat chance I know but ya can't blame me for chancing it! lol...

I really think that Celtic are close to finally making that next important step of making it to the next phase of the CL. If not this year, def next year or year after.

Strachan's building up a nice squad and with a couple of more signings over next year or two, we can break into the next tier up.

Without checking , I dont think Barce have done particularly well against British teams in recent memory. Liverpool put them out, Celtic done well. Did Newcastle not win or draw at the nou camp? Leeds too?

I think I remember Asprilla getting a hat-trick against them in a memorable night at St. James - 3-2 if I recall correctly?

Edit: God, I love youtube! ... 2 quality headers among his goals and Luis Enrique(HERO!) gets a goal.

Celtic v Barcelona - Celtic by two (anyone predicting a barca win in this tie has not seen their injury list)
Anybody who's predicting a Celtic win in this tie has not realised the quality of Barcas squad.

You saying that 11 of these guys aren't capable of beating Celtic?
Personally I reckon it'll either be a draw or a narrow Barca victory, but to say Celtic will win by 2 because of Barcas injuries is a bit much.

Valdés, Pinto, Puyol, Thuram, Márquez, Milito, Abidal, Sylvinho, Touré, Xavi, Iniesta, Gudjohnsen, Deco, Ronaldinho, Messi, Henry, Eto'o, Giovani.

    Rijkaard:
"Celtic stands for a football culture and a way of playing that is not common in Britain.

"They always place an emphasis on attack, like Arsenal and Manchester United.

"As a result, I expect a nice match but it complicates things for me.

"We cannot afford to make a mistake in Glasgow. That means cutting out any errors because we know Celtic are capable of surprising us and securing a good result to take into the second leg."

I love reading comments like that. Seedorf as well bigging Celtic up today. He loves Celtic. :)

Sorry, that was a joke! Barca have been absolutely terrible against British teams as of late. Chelsea last year, Liverpool last year. Beaten 1-0 over two legs in 04 by Celtic. I could go on, but I might cry.. =P

The year the won it they had to score 3 in the second half of their last group game because of a crap group stage. If anything their European form is exactly business as usual.
