Hi folks, anyone drive one of these Japanese oddities or know someone who does? I'm writing a magazine article about importing cars from Japan and the cool/unusual cars you can get by doing so. If there's any owners out there, get in touch...

For reference, it's these I'm talking about:

    Its a Micra underneath!

I'd want my identity obscured before I agreed to talk to a magazine about owning one of those...

Pass one of these every other day on the M50 crawl into Sandyford. I think someone in our office drives one - mad looking things. I'll check and see if the driver is willing to admit to the greater public that they drive such a thing and if they will discuss on the record their ownership of such a vehicle... :)

If as an earlier poster has suggested they are just an micra underneath - they'll be around for a long time

It has all the internal working of the Micra K10, with a turbocharged MA10 Micra engine.

I see one around Limerick pretty frequently - that colour too. Have yet to see a Pao or Be-1 (the other two crazy K10 spin-offs).

    Any Mitsuoka owners in Ireland?

Fair play - I'll hold your anorak as you leave :)

It is a sad state of affairs when there isn't even a photo of a real "Colombo mobile" & a picture of a model has to be used!

I must have been tired, I didn't even notice :o

So, for the purists among you, just one more thing

I think Nissan made them all the same colour. I've never seen one in any other colour.

Figaros come in 4 colours to represent the 4 seasons and are named after gem stones, and each relate to one of the four seasons.
    Emerald Green = SPRING
    Pale Aqua = SUMMER
    Topaz Mist = AUTUMN
    Lapis Grey = WINTER

Out of aprox. 20000 figaros made, 6000 were green. 6000 were blue, 6000 were grey and 2000 were topaz.

to see pix of the 4 colours

    all enquiries welcome

There are a few around my area, one a light green, one a light yellow/beige and one a light blue colour.

I think there are three Figaros in Charlesland, one owner for sure posts to the Greystones & Charlesland forum (under Wicklow in the Regional Category) on a regular basis if you want to stick a post up there to find them.

Unusual niche. I can understand the MX5 specialty partly because of the sheer number of them on the roads but how come you specialized in Figaros (no ulterior motive or snide comments, just curious)?

simple - there is a demand. As more appear on the road, awareness is growing. To a section of people it is uber cool.
    • Unique looks
    • 1.0 turbo
    • automatic,
    • convertible,
    • leather
    • aircon
    • cheap running costs
    • affordable price
    • increasing in value
    • packed with innovations - 1st car with factory CD, roof folding into boot etc
In fact makes one wonder why you wouldn't want one!

lol - I could give you a list but hey, we all like different things and that is what makes the world go round!!

It's nice to see specialists popping up for niche cars, it's not that long ago that you had to go to the UK if you had anything out of the ordinary now more and more of it can be done locally.

By the way, just a bit of background.....we live in Japan and I've had my "Maggie" for almost a year, never had a problem with her. She needs a paint job and some of the chrome replaced (we get lots of snow and the previous owner didn't bother with a car cover) but otherwise she is perfect. And here's the kicker....I bought her for $200! She is an awesome little car, runs well, has decent get up and go, very fuel efficient, and since I'm in Japan I can get parts/work done quite cheap. For example, my paint job (original color) and chrome replacement is going to be less than $1000. Best little car in the world, I just hope I don't run into any problems trying to take her along when we move out of Japan.
