want deposit refunded

hi, don't know where to post this. paid a deposit last year for something for my house and still haven't received it even though delivery was supposed to be at end october start november. am trying to get deposit refunded. have contacted solicitor already. very stressful situation. anyone got any advice on this for me? don't want to put too much detail on here at this stage.

would you believe it's actually €13,500? i feel sick thinking about it. it's all been in the hands of a solicitor since december and nothing much is happening and i'm afraid we're not getting the money back at this stage.........

Depends on what you've put your deposit on.

If it was a standard purchase (let's say a car) and the retailer verbally agreed with you that it would be delivered at the start of December, then you are entitled to your deposit back as the contract has been voided by the retailer.
