Applying for my 4th licence

I know I should have done my test a long time ago but I fecked off travelling around the world and back now so back to sorting this out. Have applied for my test and have my confirmation letter so now it's time to get my 4th licence to actually be able to sit the test....the 3rd went out of date last August.

Can I apply online for a 4th licence or do I need to go to my local authority? I'm in the Naas area. Checked online but can't really understand some of it if anyone could give me any help? Thanks.

AFAIK you need to go into them.

You will also need to bring confirmation that you applied for your test, and the passport photo must have a white background.

Applications for any licence/learner permit can't be done online as there is a little adhesive piece of paper which must be signed. (This is then stuck to the actual licence).

You can apply by post though.

Interestingly one of the renegade county councils (Roscommon) were providing a downloadable pdf of the form. I'm not sure if they expected you to affix a reuseable sticky label yourself or not. I don't think they allowed online submission though. Still had to be posted or dropped in.

Thanks guys. And getting a 4th licence is the same as a 3rd one is it? No other conditions because it's the 4th? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for that javaboy!

Presumably they must cut out that piece and stick it to the licence.

(Or perhaps it was made available online by mistake! )
