Great synopsis on temps so far this March MM. Mean today stands at 6.4c, a drop of 0.06c since yesterday. It will most likely hover around this figure for the next 2 or 3 days. :)

Overall Mean stands roughly at 6.6c today; contingency on unreleased data from Valentia.

Overall mean rainfall up to midnight last stands at 63mm/81% approx; again, Valentia's data missing. The East and South East remain driest up to this point.

At moment, rainfall at Belmullet is looking like zero for today and Valentia getting plenty of sunshine, probably more than 6 hrs.

Actually jumping the gun here, Valentia cloudy at 11am and there looks to be a fair bit of cloud in the S/SW, so 6hrs may be overstating.

St Patrick's Day, 17th March data

Belmullet trace of rainfall which = zero.

    Valentia had 5.8hrs sunshine.

Overall mean is probably down to 6.5C, but the data from a few stations is unavailable at moment.

At 6.5c, overall mean is near average.

Belmullet, Malin Head & Dublin have each surpassed their respective mean totals so far this month, though the west and northwest remain wettest in absolute terms.

Mullingar and Valentia data has yet to be updated but overall mean will stand at 6.4°C as of the 18th.

Overall Mean an implausible 6.4°C today, but this value will depend on yet to be updated data from Mullingar & Valentia. A 0.1°C drop at either of these stations from yesterday's values will bring overall mean down to 6.3°C rounded. Mothman or Trogdor may have more info later.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Yes 6.3C as both Mullingar and Valentia are down.

Here are the months max and mins for each of the synoptic stations for this month to the 19th.

    mar085.gif

Some stations recorded lower temperatures since the 14th when I did this table last.

The maxes are still very low and there won't be any movement with them in the coming days, though Knock had 9.5C today.

That -4.1°C at Casement is pretty impressive, only have had -0.2°C here as my min which is far behind a lot of the other synoptic stations yet probably have had more snow days than any of them (apart from Knock maybe). Interesting stuff.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Back up to 6.4°C. Danno's forecast. Not sure how he does it, but like last month, he has the longest run of being right so far.

Will probably fall only slightly from this value over the weekend.

A lot of luck and guesswork I can assure you! :o

Well your guesswork is paying off!! Mean remains static today at 6.4°C.

Overall Mean rainfall up to midnight 22nd stands at 69.4mm, which is 89% of normal.

Mean today is a marginal 6.4°C rounded. Actual flat figure is 6.35°C which suggests a small drop on yesterday's values. The trend continues at near normal. :)

Respect to the mighty Met Eireann.

Data missing from a number of stations today, but with a drop of 0.1°C at Mullingar, It is safe to assume a mean of 6.3°C for today. which is bang on average.

Will probably be a slow upward trend again over the next 3 days or so.:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,310 ✭✭✭Trogdor

I think it may be just at 6.4C for today but only just, at around 6.35,,,,. Data still missing from Clones and Dublin Airport but with every other station staying steady expect for mullingar i think they probably didn't fall yesterday either.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Data missing from number of stations hence lack of daily updates on overall mean, but I think likely to be 6.4C up to 25th.
It may well drop to 6.3C after tonight.

Stats have just been updated MM, and believe it or not, it is bang on average down to .0000!!!!. 6.3c .I thought it would be higher as well. The slightly warmer conditions over the western half of the country is balance out perfectly by the slightly cooler than average conditions in the east. Clones coolest station at 5.4c.

Mean rainfall for this point of the month stands at 74.5mm, which is 95.5% of normal so far. Rosslare driest station up to this point, while Belmullet is wettest.

Data is respect of Met Eireann

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 651 ✭✭✭Paddy.1

No data from Casement available, but mean is a safe 6.3c still today, with an actual minute drop within that figure. Still bang on average against the 61-90 mean.

Tables of charting Temp/Rain totals and D.F.A up to midnight 27th March 08:

    March27th08temp.jpg

Overall Mean stands at 6.3°C, with a deviation of -0.1°C from the 61-90 average now in force. Midland and eastern areas remain coolest; coastal stations remain slightly above average up to this point.

March 08 rainfall distribution so far:

    March27th08rain.jpg

Most stations have reached their expected totals so far this March, with Belmullet and Malin Head gaining over 140% of their average rainfall up to the 27th. Rosslare remains very dry in comparrson with only 30.9mm/46% of its expected rainfall falling so far this month.

As always, data courtesy of Met Eireann

Mean today remains at 6.3°C despite missing data from Clones and Cork Airport. Deviation of 0.0°C however is up from yesterday's value.

Danno and Trogdor seem to have this month nailed.

Mean rainfall for the month is 87.6mm, which equates to 112.3% of the 61-90 mean. Driest the futher southeast you go.

Data as always respect of Met Eireann
