Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sounds good. can you text me the address please.

Flamencowise, I can play something in Myxolidian mode, stick a few rasgueados here and there and shout "Ole", but I wouldn't go as far as calling it Flamenco...

Thanks for hosting the party again H, that was quite fun.

That's it for me now until Feb or so. I have just realised I booked 5 1/2 weeks hols instead of 4 1/2. So I probably won't even remember how to play whenI come back...
I'm leaving in 2 weeks, so see you guys next year!

Off to the islands Oink? You watch out for the boiling pots. They eat people out that way. Some Yam, rice and human leg. That song you've completed was brilliant. Henno's words of advice really worked so well. Say it loud say it proud and do it with feeling. I took a lot from his well put points.
Probably do another this side of xmas. I know Jack's got a barrow load of ideas he's looking to wheel around the garden.

Great to put a face to the posts Henno and some cracking tunes to boot. Hope you'll keep in touch and come along to the next. I'll text you when there's a date. Feel free to host away and pop a date up yourself.

I'd been getting lazy, or losing site of completion. Funny tunings and experimental wanderings had been guiding me more recently so i was a bit disappointed in myself that I wasn't more prepared with lyric completion etc. So thanks for the toe up the hole.

Oi9nk I'm gonna pull that song's lyrics up again as I think it's a quality sing and now you've heard the tune with me singing I hope it makes more sense.

Hey whens this kicking off again? It sounds like a relly great idea, I love it and I'd really like to be involved.

Hey whens this kicking off again? It sounds like a relly great idea, I love it and I'd really like to be involved.
Good point Arid. I'd drifted off a bit what with Chrimbo and regulars away etc. I'm up for one if anyone else is.
Just got myself a new capo after being without for a few months. A few month of odd tunings is enough for anyone to feck the instrument away for a few weeks.
    New capo - will roll.

If you look up a few posts on the thread you'll get the jist. I'm about anyway and would love to do it next week or week after.
    Anyone else interested?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭Aridstarling

I've been at the tunings lately too, some favourites now are DADABd and DADAAa! Also if anyone needs to borrow a capo I've got a spare! ;) Just got the ol' guitar serviced so I'm good to go anytime!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 10,581 Mod ✭✭✭✭humberklog

Bump up the Jam. Seeing as Oink's back around is anyone else up for a meet. Anytime next week is good here. If interested have a read of the thread to see if it's your cup of tea and show your interest on this thread and we'll take it from there.
Aridstarling still interested? Henno? JackDev? Anyone?

Yeah, I'd still be up. Any night in mind?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 10,581 Mod ✭✭✭✭humberklog

Well I can do any evening from this Sunday right through to Thursday. But lets see who else pops up in the mean time. It's a slow forum so sometimes it comes together and sometimes it doesn't.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭Aridstarling

Sunday or Monday would probably be best for me.

I'm only starting out playing the guitar - I'm a piano player - And I would like to just play some songs to a couple of people over a cup of tea. I think this would be a perfect setting for people to actually join in on some songs too. All open mic nights is set up so there is no interaction between the musicians.

Anyway it would be great to hear from you about this.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 2,159 Mod ✭✭✭✭Oink

I can do Tuesday or Thursday.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 10,581 Mod ✭✭✭✭humberklog

Thursday's good here too. Perfect in fact. How would that suit Elder and Arid? Another location on the cards. Heading to northside suburbs if that's ok. It means we can be a loud as we want.

Hey Oink how's the recording device you got working out?

    HennoJohn knocking about?

    Thursday's good.
THe H4 is fantastic. the buttons can be a little tricky to use at first, but overall I'm really happy.
We ll I was anyway until I gave it to my dad for Christmas. Don't know what came over me. I was sober so it must have been that Christmas spirit crap.

I've got a gig Thursday in Mullingar and a prior commitment (Gigsmart gig in the Button Factory, come along if you can! 8pm, 6 quid) tonight so I'm afraid I'm out for this week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 49 Elder Roche

I can't do it tonight, as I'm heading to a gig, but what time are you thinking of meeting at and where?

Well it'll be tomorrow night about 7.30 to whenever and it'll be on Dublin's Northside. I can PM details tomorrow lunch time to those interested. If not enough people then we'll just do it another time.

Hey, I'm new to this particluar section of boards, usually just keep an eye on the bands/musicians section but this here sounds interesting- haven't read thru all 14 or so pages of thread so sorry if i'm repeating stuff here- when is the next session on and whereabouts? I play guitar and other bits and pieces and write and record songs. It'd be interesting to get some feedback from other songwriters so I'd be up for attending this

    Hey Sinbad,

I was talking to Humberklog yesterday, and we re planning a session next week, as some people couldn't make it this week.
More details to follow with H's next post...
Looking forward to hearing your stuff.

As for the 14 pages you haven't read, you don't know what you're missing. We've debated some mighty powerful stuff so far.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 10,581 Mod ✭✭✭✭humberklog

This week is GO! C'mon fingers out of holes. Anybody interested any evening this week. Again venues on Dublin's Northside 'burbs. Sinbad, Elder etc. still interested? Oink? Anyone? If you're reading this and interested and free this week then you're more than welcome to come along.

  • Registered Users Posts: 122 ✭✭sinbadthesailor

Yeah I'm still up for that, so long as the icy roads ain't too bad. If it's happening this week could ye pm the details and i'll skid along to it :pac:

Hey I think this is a great idea id be very interested!
    keep me posted!

If you wanna have a listen to the sort of stuff I play....

    http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=6461038968

First one is original, second one a cover. They were put together pretty quickly with a friend so are far from polished.

Have just started to write a few songs that I feel would be worthy of airing recently, and I think its a great idea to do it with fellow musicians as friends/ family are bound to just nod and say 'yeh great i like it' without anything very constructive to say.

Let me know whats going on with it anyway, cheers!

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 2,159 Mod ✭✭✭✭Oink

Hey H, looks like we got us a live one...Interested in a session soon?
    I can do 19, 24, 26 March.

Hi Morzadec, hope to see you there. I'll try and listen to your song by then.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 10,581 Mod ✭✭✭✭humberklog

Yeah let's get the finger out. I had a call from Jack Dev during last week so he'll be up for it too. Things just got a little focked up in the North Pole there for while. Back on track now. Anytime's a good time here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭Aridstarling

I'm free from Friday on, got a week off from college. So count me in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,952 ✭✭✭Morzadec

    Cheers Oink!

19th is a Thursday right? Yeah that suits, I'll have to get someone to cover me at work but that should be no problem.

Keep me posted anyways nice one

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 10,581 Mod ✭✭✭✭humberklog

    Pm's of location being sent.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 2,159 Mod ✭✭✭✭Oink

That was a good session last night! Hopefully it will help me get started again this year... Haven't touched my guitar in a while. Which is why I was a bit of a voyeur last night, didn't play and just watched...

It was definitely fun destroying Jackdev's songs with our impromptu contributions :D. I have to find your myspace Jackdev, I'm curious to listen to your own version...

Some good stuff there from aridstarling too, keep it up man!!!

EDIT: Oh. I found a link to Jack's music in his sig. How convenient.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭Aridstarling

Yeah, it was a good night all round really. Keep it up yourself, try a few songwriting excercises or something, even if they sound stupid (and they are) but they might help get those creative juices flowing. JackDev's stuff is excellent, food for thought there alright. And cheers for the lift!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,952 ✭✭✭Morzadec

sounded like a good night give me a shout next time yous get one going cheers

    Will do Morz.

Good clean fun you crazy kids. I like that place as a setting. It's a little out there in the 'burbs for me too but we can be as loud and late as wanted. So maybe there again?

Excellent stuff going on there Arid. Good to hear it going on.
Jack your stuff's brilliant. I'd love a sneak preview of cd if poss.?
Oink on the keyboards...you make the box of crap sound good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭Aridstarling

Well, I liked that keyboard, had a great pad sound, perfect for going with the "Phil Collins" drums on Jack's track!

    Wayhey! Now we jammin'...

A keyboard would spice up the whole thing all right!! How could we arrange that though... H's keyboard is rather limited for a real piano player (no offence), so we may need a plan B. I have a digital piano, but I don't have the car to carry the 25kg around, or the amp to plug it in...

I've got the car and the studio with studio speakers that should work just dandy.
