Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What Charting Software Is Best?

I am currently dabbling in spreadbetting (deltaindex) and am shopping around for charting software. for those of you that use deltaindex, you'll know the charts i use, and im basically looking for similar software, which im willing to pay a small subscrition service for. the main reason i want to use new software are:

    1. my delta charts dont work on my 3 mobile

    2. it only gives you a few days of a window for backtesting.

    3. i want to bring my chart reading and testing to the next level, i.e. running back testing using algorithims rather than eye.

also, im looking for software that give me FUTURES prices rather than instrument prices, this applies to quarterly stocks, forex and comnmodities.

indicators i use and intend to backtest for are:

    MA
    MACD
    RSI
    Parabolic SAR

i use candlestick charts where posssible and my time period goes from 1 minute to 1 day

    thanks for reading!

    Hi Portomar
I get my charts from QuoteTracker. Fantastic product, very customizable, hundreds of indicators, can do pretty much anything you want (at least, it does what I want). I know little about backtesting but QT is meant to be good on that front also.

QT does not provide the data - it links in with various brokers or data feeds (list on its website). Gives you ten days of intra-day data backfill for $60 a year. You can get it for nothing but you just get 2 days intra-day backfill then. Obviously intra-day charts go back much further. There's a users forum at qtusers.com.

Other places that might be good for backtesting would be esignal or prorealtime.com or tradestation. Could ask at trade2win.com or elitetrader.com.
