Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Travel news from Sheridan Flynn on Right Hook

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the reports from this guy called Sheridan Flynn who is travelling overland from Galway to Sydney are a bit of a non-event.
I think this evening was his second update for the show. He gave us a breathless "to be honest I don't really know where I am" before saying that he was somewhere outside Bucharest. Apparently Vienna was "amazing". When asked how he manages with money (Hook keenly observed that they don't have the euro in Romania) Sheridan said he went to an ATM. How resourceful.
When I looked it up (I was looking for Sheridan's blog, but I found this article instead) I discovered that he is part of an organised trip - you pay your 5500 euro and climb aboard and get shuttled from location to location.
If he was going under his own steam it might be worth a listen, but it is basically just a very long version of those "see-10-countries-in-7-days" trips that empty-nesters take.

I often wonder where these goons get the money from, and the time.

I'm getting a tad brassed off listening to geezers with half American accents boring the hole off me about the great experiences in........................(insert remote country of choice)

Humping a back pack in crappy conditions while joining up with other crusties is not exactly my idea of fun.

    To each his/her own I suppose:eek:
