    Hi there

Our small office in Blackrock finally got Eircom phonelines installed (we applied for them in November!!), and we need to sort out some decent broadband.

Their business package is 170 a month, which is insane. What other non wireless/satellite options are there in Blackrock? We're on the Priory Park exchange so no Smart annoyingly!!

Hmmm... depends what you get for it as to level of sanity.

On Irish pricing a buisiness connection can be €60 to €10,000 a month depending on what it does.

If Smart is not there, then everyone else is reselling eircom. Metro Business package (A Wireless LOS from 3 Rock) is slightly cheaper. But "ordinary" home user packages for Wireless or DSL may not provide what you want.

What about co-location hosting on Fibre in a Data Centre and just using a 2Mbit or 3Mbit DSL or Cable or Metro or other Wireless domestic/home user package?

we could get by with a 3mb dsl connection probably. who you think is the best reseller?

Just go with a domestic 3mb package. Im in Blackrock and on the priory park exchange too. Im with BT and never had a problem with them. When the exchange is upgraded over the coming months you will get an automatic upgrade to 8mb.:D

Word of warning for any business user who is planning on using a residential package for the office. If your broadband goes down and you're using a residential package the time from reporting to resolution of issue is increased dramatically. Just to warn you, ringing up and stating you need it for work will not speed the situation along and most ISP's will tell you that if thats the case a business package would be better suited. They're are more expensive because they get fixed quicker among other things.

    Just to warn you.

    I'm in Blackrock.
I have IrishBroadband Breeze at home, no problems.
The Site I'm on apparently has very few users, so there are no problems with congestion...
