The original plan for the land out in the crystal was for a hotel on the main gaa pitch with an eight screen cinema on the far off gaa pitch and then retail units on the soccer pitches. There was no mention of a leisure centre with the hotel. As far as I know the company behind the project ( Parker Green ) received planning permission from the Corporation with a lot of stipulation but the local residents plus a certain lecturer from W I T have appealed this to An Bord Pleanala.
