Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fcuk me that is incredible, years ahead of it's time, im only amazed that i actually missed that, i never recall Aphex Twin playing here, and i was going out every weekend back then raving, looks like it could possibly be the SFX, doubt it's the Olympic to be honest, the music policy in the Olympic Ballroom was never as heavy as that.

Looks like a Dublin crowd anyway. By fck did it look a good night, pretty intense by the sounds of it...would expect a lot of doves were ingested that night :)

He has played here a few times and will again but looking at that crowd closely they don'y loook irish - maybe its just me! While i liked some of his stuff i always thought he was over rated and had a bit of a myth going around - but that is fcuking brilliant and i take it all back - way ahead of everybody in that video!

hahaha that's a good one they don't look Irish, what were you looking out for mate people with red hair and freckles and green eyes:D if whoever posted it up says it was in Dublin one must assume that it was.

Anyway great video, will definitely go see him if he comes back here!!

Nah he is definitely not over rated, feckin genius imo, I have been a fan since getting Selected Ambient Works in 1994. His work is so varied from chilled tunes to full-on mental like in the video clip. He can also produce some simply fcked up stuff which I am not really into. Should be an interesting gig when he plays here, lets hope its like this one!

The first time Aphex Twin played in Ireland was in the Olymp1a on Saturday the 26th of September 1998. The second time was in the Temple Bar Music Centre in June 2001. I don't remember the exact date and I only remember one of the support acts, an Irish guy called The Alpha Incident (who use to be the drummer for an Irish indie band called Palomine. One of the female guitar players from that band is now inThe Chalets). The promoter that time was some "Kidney Promotions", apparently a young guy whose granny had just died and left him a load of cash, and he used it to bring Aphex over. The third time was also in the Temple Bar Music Centre on Friday the 24th of August 2001 with Bogdan Raczynski, Ovuca and Grant Wilson Claridge. That was a U:Mack gig, there was a rave the following night on a beach near Gormanstown (Laytown?) which some of the Rephlex people turned up to and DJed at and was was mentioned on the Warp Records website: http://tinyurl.com/3kzev

Cheers for that, at least we know now it wasn't actually Ireland at all. He left it long enough to play his first gig here!
