i'd love to know, took an ealry 1 nil lead, dundalk took it back to 1 all, we eventully led 3-1, had our forth disallowed after the tap in was deemed off side, were then refused a penalty claim, and it went down hill quickly from there when dundalk got a penalty about 5 minutes later

we were all aver them in the last 5 to 10 minutes but it was not enough, its really not looking good for the rest of the season, need to start getting a few wins if we are to survive, and we have derry in the leauge as well at home on tuesday

    from the beeb

    Sligo Rovers 0-4 Derry City
A storming second-half display gave Derry City their first win in six league matches on Tuesday night.

David Scullion headed in the opener from Stephen Gray's floated cross in the 54th minute at the Showgrounds.

Defender Peter Hutton, in his 650th appearance for the Candystripes, shot in the second nine minutes later.

Substitute Mark Farren punished a mistake by home keeper Richard Brush and then stroked in Derry's fourth goal seven minutes from the end.

It was Derry's first win in the league since 19 June and they will be confident when returning to Sligo on Saturday in the fourth round of the FAI Cup.

There were no goals in the first half of Tuesday's league clash, with Scullion just wide with Derry's best chance.

But the former Glentoran man got his second goal in two games when heading in from Gray's left-wing ball.

Hutton fired the ball through a number of players at the back post to make it 2-0.

The third goal was a horror show for keeper Brush.

He attempted to beat a couple of Derry players and lost possession, giving Farren the chance to chip the keeper to make it 3-0.

Farren, who had just come on, then scored again to complete Derry's biggest win of the league campaign.

could have been a hell of a lot worse, derry had a 5th goal disallowed. it could get worse still, bray, the only team below us are 2 points behind with a game in hand

That 5th was onside aswell. I don't know what is going to save us now honestly. A massive change is needed and I don't know what that is. If we don't beat Bray next friday then we are effectively relegated, not even play off place, relegated:(

Please let Gavin Peers come back early.

The keeper was a nightmare! That 3rd goals was definitly 1 for a dvd bloopers collection......god knows where he thought he was going!:D

I don't know what brush was doing there. Other players just looked at their man and didn't even go near him. Every throw in was to someone with four (tall) players around him and then they trew the ball in high!! Nothing went right.

What a cold shower after last season.

    yes!!!!!

we won, 1-0 against derry in the cup, now lets play like that in the league and we stay up, and hopefully avoid the relegation play off spot

Rovers and Bohs cup replay on tomorrow night in the showgrounds at 7.45. If we are going to win the cup this year we are definitely doing it the hard way! With Keane back ,a big supportive crowd and if peers (would obviously love rovers to keep him but surely he should be playing at a higher level?) can put in a performance like he did in the first game there is no reason why we cant get past the "big club"

Should be a great game tonight. Looks set to be a nice evening for it aswell so hopefully a great crowd will come out.

We've kept a clean sheet against them in the last two games, beaten derry and cork in the cup already so we could upset things by sneaking a win tonight.

Had some great mid week nights over the last couple months , Cork in the cup and Bohs in the league couple weeks ago.Hopefully tonight is another!

What a result! Couldnt make it tonight and the Ocean Fm commentary almost gave me a heart attack, Keith o Dwyer was finding it difficult to control himself towards the end:D A very real possibility of winning the cup now:)
