I dont think a draw would be a bad result as Derry are flying at the minute and Zayed is in good form but Rovers definitely capable of getting all 3 points. Shams on Friday is huge game. Another defeat to them (especially at showgrounds) would be a big blow psychologically (and points wise of course!) if we want to win the league.

Still have to be positive. We have one of the best squads, although not the biggest in the league and are more than capable of getting two good results tonight and Friday. If Rovers really are genuine contenders these are the kind of games you have to show it.

On the Derry and Shams matches, a win is also very important as they both seem to be the teams to beat this season considering their performance so far and position in the table.

Meant to ask as well. What happened to the Mural that was in progress on the wall by the Jinks Avenue stand. There was an outline of something there before that was painted over at the weekend.

Maximum points needed against Shams on friday night following our two draws last night. Need to try and close that gap between the top and our selfs.

Played well last night, looked the more likely to win it overall but a point is not a bad result. Friday's game is massive. Really need a big crowd and to get behind the team for 90mins, the singing section are meant to be moving down the Railway End to try it out so anyone who's interested in creating a better atmosphere and help the team, head down there. Enough of the negative stuff/abuse being shouted from the Treacy stand, try supporting the team for a change.

There was a mix-up as to where they were meant to paint it. It was never meant to be on that side of the wall, it was only meant to be the other side of it (facing the astro).

I personally think they've done it the wrong side as it would look better facing the crowd.

Hopefully it being on TV will not affect the attendence.

Absolutly. Would really show off the place more to both the visiting and the home fans if it was in view of them. I can understand it being on the astroturf side to add a bit of colour and brighten up the complex, but its still going to be partly obscured by people coming in by the prefab shop/office there.

Was reading up some more on whats required for the UEFA Europa League fixture (todays champion), an extra 2,000 perminant seats, improved flood lighting, and facilities (all expected), but extending the pitch lenght by 5 metres, and combining that the additional seats required, that could be trickiest of the lot, and take up an awful lot of space at the old shed end.

A point in the Brandywell is always a good result but couldnt help feeling the win was there for the taking. All the more frustrating with Shams dropping points. Hopefully Doyle is back up front on friday, didnt really see the sense in putting him out on the wing where he is nowhere near as effective and with him getting a lot of goals recently why change it:confused:.

Anyway overall it was a really solid performance, mcguinness and keane in particular impressed and ventre made a few important interventions.
Showgrounds should be packed on Friday, id think tv coverage would actually add to the occassion and encourage more people to go hopefully:)

    Team news for tonight http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2011/0624/sligo_shamrock.html

Rovers at full strengh with Davoren back. Really hard to know what team Cook will go with, Doyle has to go back up front again. Russell needs to be given longer in games (unless there is an issue with fitness) but always seems to be taken off first and is one of our most creative players. Whatever team is picked really have to be positive and attack Shams from the start. They are by no means invincible and with a bit of belief and luck 3 points are on offer.:)

Fantastic result against Shams last night. A really good committed team performance and played good quality football as well. For the size of the squad and players they have Shams really do play some awful stuff sometimes. The league is wide open now, most competitive its been in years.
Think its Shelbourne away in League cup on Monday, a really tough game and Bray then. Important not to get too carried away though and make sure they build on last nights performance and keep up the momentum. Looking good at the minute though:)

Another great win tonight:). With games against Drogheda and Galway on the way things are definitely looking good.

Hopefully a big crowd next weekend and give the team the support their results and performances deserve.

A Pats draw or win against Shams on Sunday will set things off nicely now.

    Giggidy.

Professional performance and another clean sheet tonight to get the win. Dorgheda worked hard and were well organised but didnt really have the quality to look like they could win it. A good crowd but to be honest still think it should be bigger.Rovers are challenging at the top of the table, defending two cups and playing quality football aswell. Still its obviously tough economic time and people with families etc would obviously have other priorities. Very healthy turnout all the same(considering the opposition too).

Nice to see Powell introduced at half time, brings even more quality to the squad.

    Oh by the way....http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/soccer_tables_index.html :)

Great result -- although it was all a little laboured. Any, as the cliche goes, winning ugly sign of a good side. Roll on Galway and then another biggie v St Pats. Thought the crowd was good, all factors considered. A lot of the old heads starting to re-appear! Mooneys did well at half time, wee Jimmy was working like a Trojan!

Any idea what official attendance was?

    Finished 2-2.

Everyone on the same games played now and only five points between first and fifth.

Squeaky bum time, as Alex Ferguson would say. :D

Man it's a sight to behold seeing Rovers top of the league. Now lets hope they set up permanent residency for the rest of the season.
