For people interested in a career in Fire and Rescue, that may be frustrated by the lack of vacancies in Ireland, the UK Fire & Rescue Service may be worth considering.

Though competition for these jobs is extremely fierce, as is the case in Ireland, brigades up and down the UK regularly advertise for new recruits such is the scale of the service here. The trick is where to start! A site that may be of use to prospective recruits on here is UK Fire Service Resources. This is a website run by serving firefighters providing information on recruitment, fitness and everything else related to a career in F&R. More importantly the site also has a regularly updated recruitment feed [URL="feed://www.fireservice.co.uk/rss/recruitment.xml"]here[/URL] that allows interested parties to track which Brigades are recruiting.

Knowing how popular a career choice Fire and Rescue is, and the trials my brother has gone through trying to get into DFB, the above may be of use to other prospective firefighter trainees not having much luck with the Irish brigades and afford a career option that might otherwise be missed.
