    Not a happy camper

Just recieved the other 2 packages in my order. One of the packages had a broken seal and a 4gb memory key was missing from the order. The delivery driver noted on the delivery documentation that the seal was broken and now I've gotta go through the process of getting hardwareversand.de to ship another and to bill DHL. AAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!!!

    Totally not impressed with DHL

Not a happy camper here either. After receiving my PC, it wouldn't load the O/S. So I sent it back. It returned and made an almightly noise when powered on, like the motherboard speaker was on full blast the whole time. Just wasn't happy with getting it back 'fixed' like this - so sent it back - after the guy on the phone from the service team told me I'd receive a full refund, including the cost of shipping it back both times.

Since then they've intermittently replied to my emails.

I got one a couple of days ago asking for my Bank details, which I sent. Then I get one this morning saying I have received a credit note. Not sure what's going on now, but one thing is for sure - their support leaves a lot to be desired. If it turns out they won't be sending me back my money, I'll be mightily unimpressed - I've already bought from Komplett instead.

you'll have fun dealing with Kompletts support if the PC from them isn't working  good luck trying the get them to offer to pay for your shipping.

also a loud pc speaker wouldn't be a reason to return a pc in fairness. If you don't have the ability to debug simple pc problems you'd be better buying a DELL and getting their free support. You could of simply just disabled the onboard speaker in the BIOS as some motherboards will have louder speakers than others.

I was returning the PC because there was an initial fault, which I sent back to be fixed, and it was returned in a condition that was obviously not fixed. It was a simple point of principle more than anything else - how many chances exactly should I give them to send me a PC in a working condition? Just because their parts are cheaper, doesn't mean I have to accept that they don't work.

I was considering buying a Dell after that experience, because I've dealt with Dell for many years both from a personal and work point of view, and any time I've had to contact their support I've been impressed with the level of service. The reason I didn't go for one this time was that I wanted more control over exactly what components were going in the machine.

In future L31mr0d - I'd appreciate if you kept your unhelpful and glib comments to yourself.

In future i'd ask you to refrain from calling my comments "glib" when they clearly aren't. If anything the comments YOU have made are glib, as I can guarantee anyone here would know that a loud PC speaker does not mean a PC is broken, if however the speaker was making successive beeps or still was not booting the OS then yes that would indicate another issue, but you never detailed this

Also I don't think recommending DELL is unhelpful for someone who needs guidance on troubleshooting PC issues. The problem with your HWV PC might of simply been a reset CMOS which sometimes happens if a PC is powered down for a period of time (i.e. the PC might of been working when it was built, but the CMOS had reset itself in transit to your address)

Also, i'd have a read of the Komplett forum if you don't think the same happens with them, this thread will be of specific interest to you:

clearly you don't understand what glib means because I was being serious when I said that people with little PC knowledge should buy from DELL as they offer technical support.

Regardless you've bought from Komplett now anyway. Good luck with the build

I have "little PC knowledge". Should I just scrap my own proposed build now, and go buy from Dell? Or should I use a forum like this (whose very purpose is to offer advice and information)? Just curious.

We can't all be experts. There was a point in time where you yourself knew nothing about computer tech ;)

but you see that's my point entirely. You want to build a pc and learn. If you encounter an issue with your build what will you do? Will you just return the PC or will you post on here looking for help debugging it?

If you are the kind of person that encounters a problem and your first response is to return it then yes, I'd recommend buying from DELL as their support and turn around of returns is better than other computer e-tailers.

I was merely trying to explain to the OP that it could of saved him a lot of headaches had he done some simple debugging into the problem rather than just returning the PC twice.

    Again with the glib comments.
I tried working on the original problem, spent a couple of days trying different things, as detailed in this post here. I didn't just turn it on and say "Oh, it's not working, I'll send it back".

    Got an email from hardwareversand
    Dear Mr. ******,

thank you for your order and we apologize for the troubles caused. We will send you USB-Stick, but we need a declaration from you. Please fill the attacked document and send it back via email scan or per post. After we received it, we will send you the missing item.

    Yours sincerely

So I guess its not so bad, at least they accept their bad packaging & shipping service. .

why is this thread so long :D

Folk are giving the op real-time feedback of their hardwareversand experiences.

1 of my 2 packages arrived today - everything but my PC chassis. :pac:

lol, is that like your word of the week or something? Nothing i've said so far has been glib, as i've been serious with my advice.

regardless... I can't recommend HWV enough. I've bought from them a few times and also had to return items to them a few times (usually due to some overclocking error on my part) and they have always quickly replaced the item. In one instance they didn't have the RAM I wanted replacing in stock, so instead of keeping me waiting for a replacement they immediately sent me out more expensive RAM with an apology letter :p

Their online chat support is also very good. If I have any questions I just log into the chat page and a support person will start talking to you in english in a matter of minutes.

Yes that's my word of the week, having to respond to you.
Glib - Showing little thought, preparation, or concern: a glib response to a complex question.

I've a new word of the week - clown - together with pants. To make clown pants.

Alright lads, put down the handbags :-)

Back on-topic - as to how long HWV take.
Ordered my build Friday March 28.
Got their IBAN details but didn't make it to the bank until Monday March 31.
HWV mailed me saying they'd shipped my stuff Friday April 4th (2 shipments as one was an Antec Sonata III case.)
    Got here Wednesday April 9.

That's not bad service by anyone's standards.
Had only one scare putting it together - it wouldn't power on when I turned on the PSU switch at the back. Cue "God, no, I've shorted something out" type thoughts. Took me a while before I remembered the power button on the front of the case. D'oh! :o

I originally put together my order at the end of January, pending funds and clearance from she-who-must-be-obeyed. By the time I ordered, the price had dropped from just 890 to 709. As far as the dollar being in freefall goes, it's an ill wind that blows no good...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,111 ✭✭✭joker77

    That's fair enough :o

Overall, they were fairly quick both sending out the build, and returning it after it was supposed to have been fixed. However, I had a lot of trouble dealing with the support over email and phone. They don't seem to have a system that keeps track of customer communication. When I finally got approved for a refund (after initially being told I would have no problem, then being told I was getting a credit note), they had to ask for my IBAN details 3 times in emails.

I would have no problem ordering specific components from them, due to the good reviews they've got on here and the prices they offer, but there's no way I'd recommend getting a build from them. If anything, get the parts seperately and put them together yourself, 20 Euro seems like a bargain for them to build the PC for you, but it led to a lot of trouble in my case. :(

Why You using dutch DHL, should that not be German? Was getting that error myself, was a day later before it said that it had left the outward office of the country of origin. There doesn't appear to be any tracking inside Germany. Their tracking system appears to be a mess. It will be issued a different tracking number when it lands in Irl, just to confuse things. Not great compared to the system GLS use where You can tell exactly the location of your shipments.

Hi, I'm also wondering about tracking. I can finally see that my deliveries have left germany, but where do I get the new tracking numbers for Ireland from? From Hardwareversand? from DHL Germany? or from DHL Ireland?

Just wonder, I got an email today saying the HWV got my payment last night. This message is now showing in my order status: 'Your payment conclusion via Prepayment was confirmed us.'

My Order sum is at 1.493,59 € (The sum of my order) but my balance is at 0,00 €. Just wondering what it all means?

    Thanks

Well, I just received my order dispatch notice! :D

I have been given two tracking numbers as the shipment consists of 2 packages. I have been directed towards the dhl.de website but the tracking numbers aren't working. I presume they wont show up uptil tommorrow at some point.

Just wondering can these tracking numbers be used on dhl.ie also?

Yes, I tried as well, but they'll not show up on dhl.de till 2morro. The international tracking number will change as soon as it arrives in Ireland also.

Yeah, I got my tracking numbers yesterday as well, 3 of them. So when it comes to Ireland will I get an email with the new tracking number or will I have to annoy DHL ireland for it?

In the context of your online order of the 2008-05-01 at 08:44 we want
to inform you that the goods are sent on the 2008-05-07 at 18:00 to:

UPS would have been a 3 day delivery...But today is Saturday; they don't deliver weekends :/ So even though my package left Dublin yesterday at 12 at night (where to I don't know), I get it on Monday :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 758 ✭✭✭platinums

Ordered recently , sent the cash via IBAN (AIB Bank) on the 2nd Jan and delivery is stated for Tuesday 8th.
Thats seems like pretty good going.

2 days to verify the transfer and 3 days for delivery (UPS) not including the weekend (2 days extra)

That sounds about right. UPS take three days, if you ordered Wed or after, unfortunately you'll have to wait 'til Mon, like me :(

Apparently so. 2 orders from me in the past 6 months were couriered by UPS. An order made and a half years ago was DHL. UPS seems to be costing less - 18.99 instead of 29.99.

a couple of times they have just not delivered on the expected day and i get tracking status's saying they need the correct address, but they have delivered here a good few times and they never bother to call on the phone for directions. the last time they did it the driver seemed to know exactly where the place was when he did eventually make it here and told me that he had tried calling, the phone was on and had reception the whole time and there was no call. i get the impression they just make an excuse when they can't be bothered delivering to somewhere a bit out of their way whereas the postman obviously isn't going to do that.

Quick question about ordering with hardwareversand.
I ordered with them 4 years ago and remember i was advised to add in the irish layout of my address somewhere for DHL as the german address layout is very different, is this still needed? and if so where during the process?

My order is supposed to come in today it left tamworth this morning 4.57 this morning and it hasn't been scanned in Dublin yet. The tracker says it is on time yet it is 5.30 pm and no sign of package any ideas on whats going on

It'll probably be delivered tomorrow. UPS aren't the greatest when it comes to having up to date tracking info. Considering the last package I was waiting for said "On time, scheduled delivery by end of day xx/xx/xxxx" and it was 10PM that night.
