Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vista - thumbnails disappearing

Feel a bit crap just floating in here and asking for help but I've just been trawling google for 15 minutes and haven't found anything useful :(

I've noticed that randomly, when I open a directory full of images with the medium thumbnail selected, it generates the thumbnails then a second later reverts back to the placeholder icon. I saw a suggestion to use disk cleanup to delete the thumbnail cache and get it to re-create it from scratch, but the problem is currently happening on a Buffalo NAS thingy and I can't choose that through the disk cleanup wizard (pfff, yes, I use the wizard). It's happened on local files before too (I think) but a reboot seemed to resolve it, for a while at least.

I saw another suggestion saying it was a permissions issue because it was unable to actually write the thumbnail cache to the folder, but I'm not entirely sure which user I need to give write permission to on the folder...

Anyone got any experience of this?

In the meantime, I suppose I'll switch back to my XP partition for this particular filing exercise... Vista's pretty and all, but... argh

Are the files RAWs or jpeg, if they're RAWs theres a possibility that Vista is reading the embedded jpeg preview then replacing that with the RAW place holder, have you the RAW codec installed?

Hmm, no it's happening to both raw and jpeg. A reboot sorted it temporarily last night again

Besides, isn't the raw compatibility built in to vista? I never had to install anything to get it to show them in the first place...

    If in doubt, reboot;)

Vista has no support for RAW built into the OS out of the box, Bridge or some of the other image processors will show thumbs in their dialog boxes but explorer shouldn't.
