You should have camped over night on Lug :) It looks pretty white here almost down to the base-so it must have got a spell of snow in the wee hours presumably above 1500ft.

Very little rain here, though it was heavy in a short burst a while ago.
Par for the course in this neck of the woods in precip moving down from due north or northwest. The mountains soak it all up.
    currently 6.1c aith a dp of 2c.

Lug would have orographic lift from any wind direction being that exposed to wind and so high and even if no echoes on the radar you can be sure that a constant run of moisture riding over the entire mountain.

I watched the radar untill just after 3am and there was not much in the way of rain and any that fell moved through here and wicklow pretty quick.
Arctictree/Longfield was in and around 2.6c so Lug would have been subzero at the summit with snow line much lower again.I'd say snow/snizzle was falling on the summit of Lug before the front ever hit the north coast with a moist west wind at height.

I got up at 5am to see the conditions. It was 3.1c and lashing rain. Went back to bed fairly quick! Yes, I can see snow covered Lug to my south.

Some sort of mini squall has just passed me here. A sudden increase in wind that knock my wheelie bin over. Not much rain but got very dark. the whole thing lasted less than a minuite. The back end of that cloud to my south is bubbling up as it heads over Tuam.

It's in full view here now and quite pretty. The snow is right down to the base of the mountain.
Interestingly theres more on the western side of it than the side close to the sea.

many parts of england got nearly 4 inchs of snow but then it melted there very quick indeed as soon as it stoped.

A miserable day here today with frequent light to moderate showers that developed right over me:rolleyes:. Cold as well with a lot of ups and downs temperature wise. The skyscape in this camshot taken at Galway Docks a couple of hours ago is the same sky I endured all day 30 miles NNE.

Would have loved if they had built up to something special. But no, just cold and light.

Edit. Just when it dried up abit, the rain has just started again..
