    Horrendous hailstorm here.
It's like something out of armageddon!
Wind gust of 51mph at 6ft off the ground during it.

Given that most of the precip was/is hail and the speed of the wind, the aws still picked up a rain rate of over 40mm/hr

Some proper convection around today. One CB has just crossed the area here but no real downpour from it but observing one massive anvil.

    9.6c

That downpour passed as fast as it arrived, now sunny and not so windy.

    Mike.

Radar Data Issues - 12:00 (Saturday)
The problem with the Met Office 'Radarnet' system is unfortunately still ongoing and is making the radar updates very erratic. The latest on this is that they had a major hard-disk failure and the engineers are still working to get it fixed. Again, we apologise for any inconvenience that this is causing.
Its been like this a couple of days now.

Another shower has passed through here and look more threatening than it actually was.

Certainly a highly convective day. Grabbed a couple of stunners here though heaviest part of the showers seem to be sliding to my near east in a defined path.

Looks like convective activitly may increase during the late afternoon and early evening according to latest Met Eireann rainfall graph:

    3hr-rain.jpg

Looks like there could be a sharp wind veer later too which could indicate some local severe squalls. One to watch. :)

Ah, thought a tornado had taken out a few dishes :pac:

Radar is back up and the 2.30 shot shows a hell of a cluster of red around my location, but it barely even rained...showers' going W and S of me, bright sunshine in Dundalk.

Showers to my west northwest showing signs of intensifying. Anvil now forming roughly about 7 miles west which is in the Claremorris area. Just had a brief one here, big drops but not enough to wet the ground completely.

Bone dry in this neck of the woods.
    0.3mm today.
Thankfully! Gives the land a chance to dry out.You can see the clear/dry slot on the radar covering the whole of co wexford and into south wicklow on the UKMO radar.
I don't like the look of the curl thats heading this way though :(

Interestingly the breeze is Easterly... ie against the direction that the band is moving in.
What directions are ye experiencing up there?

I haven't looked but I presume this is a circulatory curl then?
