I bought a 00 SEAT Inca SD in August of last year with 105,000 miles on it as a cheap runaround. All was going well until January when I had the fuel pump replaced. It now bangs or misfires on startup and lets out a big puff of blue smoke on top of that the oil lamp is flashing and I am nearly sure I can hear the hydraulic lifters when you push it hard up a hill. Anyone have any suggestions what the likely problem is? and what the cost of fixing it is likely to be?

well as it turns out it was quite a number of things first off

    engine misfire-fuel pump timing

blue smoke on start up - broken piston rings

    oil light- oil pressure sensor

engine tappety noise - hydraulic lifters
