Road markings on Kilcullen to Athy road

On the Kilcullen to Athy road just past the motorway bridge there's some odd road markings on the left lane of the road, just loads of white dashes... like someone was going to play that old arcade game breakout! Haven't seen them anywhere else, was wondering if anyone knew what they were about?!
